Summary

Bury your enemies, and bury them deep.

John Milton thought he was done with Avi Bachman. The most dangerous man he's ever known has been incarcerated in Angola, the brutal Louisiana prison. Inmates rarely leave Angola. Once you go in, the only way out is in a box. But Bachman is no ordinary prisoner. He was an assassin for the Mossad, and he has favours to call in.

Milton is in the Australian outback with an old friend and his flirtatious kid sister, looking for a summer’s peace to put his troubled mind to rest. But Bachman has other plans. He thinks that Milton killed his wife, and now he wants revenge.

From Australia to Israel, from Hong Kong to Croatia, here is the conclusion of this brutal chapter in Milton’s life. The two headhunters are on a collision course, and only one of them will walk away. Don’t start this audiobook in bed - you will lose sleep.

Mark Dawson has worked as a lawyer and currently works in the London film industry. His first books, The Art of Falling Apart and Subpoena Colada have been published in multiple languages. He is currently writing three series.

The John Milton series features a disgruntled assassin who aims to help people to make amends for the things he has done.

The Beatrix Rose series features the headlong fight for justice of a wronged mother - who happens to be an assassin - against the six names on her kill list.

Soho Noir is set in the West End of London between 1940 and 1970. The first book in the series, The Black Mile, deals with the (real-life but little-known) serial killer who operated in the area during the Blitz. The Imposter traces the journey of a criminal family through the period; it has been compared to The Sopranos in austerity London.

Another gripping Milton story...

Headhunters is essentially the continuation and conclusion of the previous book - Salvation Row.
After calling in a few favours, Avi Bachmann manages to escape from prison and only has one thing in mind, finishing John Milton once and for all.
Milton has found his way to Australia, and soon realises that Bachmann has the Mossad on his side. Their reach stretches far and wide, and with nowhere to hide Milton decides that a full on approach is his only option.
A good story, well narrated by David Thorpe.

Superb

Another winning story, with just the right amount of suspence and twist to keep the tension there, definitely well worth a listen ☺

Loved it, was concerned it might become samey but the story worked really well.

Really enjoyed Headhunters with its international flavour. Have listened to all the John Milton stories, I tried some other books along the way and then came back for a John Milton fix. Didn’t get bored at all and enjoyed the characters, the information and the action. Thanks, Steve

Another great episode

Mark Dawson's John Milton series is one of the best of the genre easily as good as Reacher and Nowhere man. In this book his battle with Avi continues. Well written with great characters and the narration is spot on.

Not the usual great storyline - too bitty

I absolutely love John Milton but this story just leapt all over the place and it became too fragmented for me to really enjoy. I still have no idea why we needed to know so much about Ziggy’s adventures in Japan seeing as it had little bearing on John Milton’s quest to destroy Avi Bachman.

I hope the next one stays more linear as I’d be sad if this was a decline in the quality of storyline from now on.

Spare me

Enjoyed another Milton story
. Narrator is the only problem. His monotone stilted wooden voice is so drab.. And please... If you can't do decent accents don't do thrm at all.... The Australian attempts were diabolical and really grateful om my nerves..

Gripping!

I definitely sacrificed sleep to follow this one! Milton was faced with outsmarting his dreadful nemesis, Avi Bachman. What a journey! But well worth taking with Milton. A great story, excellently narrated. I have to get the next in the series now I'm sold on it!!

Riveting !

This book follows on from the previous book and takes place all over the world, only really missing out the African continent. Fast paced and exciting from start to finish and, I wonder, there might be a happy ending ?! Milton is back on form ... but he has been stretched to the limit !
