About this listen

London, 1876. Hetty Feather is just a tiny baby when her mother leaves her at the Foundling Hospital. The Hospital cares for abandoned children - but Hetty must live with a foster family until she is big enough to go to school.

Life in the countryside is hard, but she has 'brothers' Jem and Gideon to play with, and together they sneak off to visit the travelling circus.

Hetty is mesmerised by the show, especially Madame Adeline and her performing horses. When she is returned to the Foundling Hospital, the new life of awful uniforms and terrible food is a struggle for Hetty. But now she has the chance to find her real mother. Could she really be the wonderful Madame Adeline? Or is the truth even more surprising?

A delightful and utterly original take on a historical novel, this warm, funny and moving story, read by Jacqueline Wilson, will thrill her many fans.

An amazing and strong heroine!

The narrator was great and made me feel like I was in the book. It's a very heartwarming story.

Love love love

Been reading jaqueline Wilson books since I was around 10 years old. 25 now, and have went back to read and listen to my favourites. This one I've not read before but it's up with my favourites now. The narrator is excellent and evokes emotion at the right moments. I've now got the second book from a charity shop and can't wait to start it.

A brilliant listen ! Would recommend!

Hetty feather was one of the best books I have ever read/listen to. The story line is gripping and had a bit of everything- from romance to sorrow and excitement. I have also listened to Sapphire Battersea, Emerald Star and Diamond and intend to get little stars and Hetty feathers Christmas. I feel so sorry for Hetty and how she had to stay cooped up in a reached hospital. I'm so happy she found her dear mother though. (Not going to give spoilers to who it is) I also love the way the reader reads the book and don't think she over does the expressions or talk in a goofy / annoying voice. In conclusion, this book is exceptional and I would highly recommend it. (:

pure genius

Jaqueline Wilson made me fall in love with reading when I was younger.

I thought I would try reading some of her newer books (well, new to me) and I'm SOOOO glad I did. this story was brilliant. it reminded me of a Catherine Cookson novel but if she wrote for younger people. I will definitely be dropping back in to see more of Hetty.

Finty Williams also did an amazing job as the narrator
