Summary
During war, nothing is ever at it seems …
Sally Hartley is a hopeless romantic. Her father died when she was a baby, but she has lived on stories from her mother of what a wonderful man he was. Now, all she wants is a love like theirs. And she thinks she’s found it in Adam, the brother of a friend from home. When Adam is posted to Orkney, it’s like Sally’s dreams have all come true.
After Italy changes sides in the war, the Italian POWs are granted more freedom on the islands, meaning Sally can spend more time with her friend, Aldo, and the two grow ever closer. But when a family secret is revealed, Sally's trust might be forever broken.
Sally, Iris and Mary must continue their duties, even as life changes drastically around them, including an attack on one of their fellow Wrens from an unknown assailant. Now the friends face danger not just from the enemy, but also someone much closer to home.

Wonderful
I loved hearing the stories of all three girls and their time in Orkney. All three girls feature in the three books and their stories continue. This book is around the girls rather than the work they do as in the first book. But it was lovely to hear Sally's story.

Loved the story
Brought back happy nemesis of my friends I made when I stated in kirkwall and crossed the Churchill barriers to see some of them

Excellent story
So sad that this trilogy has come to an end. Well worth reading 3 three books love all the characters the warmth came through in every twist and turn of these wonder characters. Amazing narration. Thank you Live the authors note at the end thank you.

Hopeful Hearts for the Wrens
The 3rd in the series concentrating on Sally’s story. Another pleasant WWII WRNS romance set in The Orkneys. Strangely compelling easy listening. An interesting story about human relationships with the added frisson of danger from the war/the Italian POW baddie. However the good nature of Aldo was shown in contrast to that of Adam, as well as his Fascist compatriot proving not all enemies were bad.
An inexactitude was not edited out that Ordinary Wrens are advanced to Wren Able after 6 months’ service. Often Wrens were then advanced to Leading Wren by 2 years after passing a test. When the 3 acted so responsibly regarding the spy in a previous book, they would have been given advancement for showing such responsibility. So instead of being offered a posting to Portsmouth which was refused, I would have expected them all to have been Leading Wrens by the start of this book.
