An easy listening, thought provoking joy!
I loved this audiobook. The narrator is excellent and encourages you to become invested in each of the characters. I particularly enjoyed the intertwining of facts with fiction with the horrendous events surrounding young George and the brief facts of the time, in the Southern States of America, regarding racial segregation. I enjoyed this book so much I even listened to the author's notes, at the end, which I rarely do. I truly was sorry when this book came to an end. Thank you Karyn Parsons

Heartbreakingly Beautiful
Engaging story about a historical period that is not widely covered in children’s literature and which uses first person narrative to give a poignant insight.

Engaging and affecting
Another delight in my reading challenge! I picked this book from many others that were written by an author with the same first name as me. It seemed the most appealing of the book descriptions, and I was not disappointed. Moving, funny, thoughtful. Karyn Parsons gets into the head of the young, naive protagonist and subtly signposts plot developments, wider issues and event the personality traits in other characters through her descriptions of them. Sisi Aisha Johnson is a great narrator and brings everyone to life.
