Excellent series!
I am really enjoying this series and am working my way through them all one after another. The stories so far have been good with plenty of suspense and twists.
There seem to be a lot of reviews berating the narrator. I have listened to a lot of audiobooks and heard many worse narrators. I want two things from the narration - to be able to tell the characters apart and to have a consistent narrator for a whole series. Henrietta Meire fulfils both these criteria.

Terrible narrator
I love Joy Ellis stories and I bought the first 3 to listen to at work, but I wont buy anymore in this series because of the narrator. The biggest bugbear being the terrible and very strange accents. Ie Belfast accent wavers somewhere between Scotland, Yorkshire and Newcastle with a sprinkling of Cork!
Joseph is aloof and just a little sinister which is not how he’s written at all.
Please change the narrator for this series.

Narration
Another good story but sadly the narrator remains dreadful, probably worse as obliged to attempt more accents. Such a shame.

Enjoyed the book, spoilt by narration
A good listen but dreadful narration. So many mispronounced words, and the narrator sometimes seems to forget whether or not she is still speaking in a character’s voice, or continuing with narration, and she continues in the voice of the character. I really enjoy Joy Ellis’s books and have listened to all of this series because at present I’m unable to read and need to listen, but as I’ve worked my way through the series I’m surprised to hear the same narrator. There have been so many comments about mispronunciation that I’m surprised that the narrator hasn’t been changed - or at least that someone hasn’t done the equivalent of ‘proof reading’ the narration. The simplest of words are mispronounced.

Fabulous book spoiled by narration again!
The book was up to the usual Joy Ellis standard, great story and developing characters; really want to listen to the next books but the narration, hilarious accents and mispronounced words are really difficult to swallow. Think I’m going to have to read the next books in the series!

A gallop through the fens
The story was good with a few twists along the way to keep you guessing. I found the narration quite irritating, accents were very strange and several words mispronounced, it was read very quickly with sentences running into one another as though the narrator couldn’t get through it quickly enough. I would have enjoyed this book more if I had read it myself rather than listening.

Detailed characters you could get to know.
The narrator was awful. Flat boring tones. No accent. The characters sounded Yorkshire based if anything. Got confused as to where they were supposed to be! Duh!

Problems with accents
Joy Ellis are easy listening if you like crime stories. the narrator sustains the main character's accents (Nikki sounds more Midlands than Norfolk )but really cannot sustain or replicate Scottish or Irish accents.
