Summary

“It's me, love … I'm The Yorkshire Ripper.”

With new material from personal interviews with Peter Sutcliffe–I'm the Yorkshire Ripper offers a completely new insight into the shocking life and times of one of Britain's most notorious serial killers.

When Peter Sutcliffe spoke those words to his wife Sonia following his arrest in 1981, it marked the end of a killing spree which had terrorised northern England for five years. The nation had been appalled yet gripped by the Ripper and was now fascinated by the man behind the headlines.

But despite millions of words being written about the case since his arrest 40 years ago, the full Peter Sutcliffe story has never been told–until now.

Based on a vast quantity of raw material collected from Sutcliffe himself over a period of 16 years, ‘I'm the Yorkshire Ripper' is the compelling account of the most terrifying series of murders in British history–much of it in the killer's own words.

Shockingly intimate portrayal …

… of a monster. Fascinating insight into the murders and the motivation (or pretend motivation) of the killer. Horrifying, but addictive reading even if his justification is obviously fake & his lack of remorse infuriating.

new and interesting facts

loved the informative delivery of Sutcliffe's life and murders. an interesting insight on Sutcliffe and how he viewed himself, his daily life in the years he struck fear into every woman in Leeds, Bradford, Yorkshire. I was a child, and even I recall the Ripper.
It's scary how he perceived his murders as righteous, and expresses no remorse, but is so egocentric, the theft of 2 bottles of coke from the fridge at prison left him incandescent. Even the death of his mother, then in later life his father, cast no glimmer of humanity into this monster. He saw the survivors of his attacks, and the families of the deceased as glory hunters, loving the drama, out to make money.
Few are truly evil, and it's no surprise he was firm friends with Jimmy Saville and Ian Huntley.
Birds of a feather....
If ever there was a hell, it was truly created for these lowlife, he can continue to compete with Brady for the most notorious monster to walk these lands in whatever dungeons they now inhabit.
Prison was too good for them.
And this book highlights Sutcliffe's narcissistic and sociopathic traits.
Excellent read.

Excellent

Fascinating. It’s well written and read. I was absorbed and horrified in equal measure. I already knew it thought I knew a lot about the case but this book went into areas I did not know and had not been reported . In many ways Sutcliffe represented the banality of evil. This is definitely worth the time .

Great listen!

Very in-depth book, the view from Peter Sutcliffe was interesting, he truly was remorseless and self serving. His in ability to take responsibly for his actions and admit he was just evil is really highlighted in this book. Well done and greatly researched!

Hugely gripping

I love my true crime audio books and this one was massively interesting, it was interesting hearing stories about others like the krays, also a look into certain well known actors who have a messed up life and now you know why (just shows we shouldn’t judge) like all of these kind of books it’s sickening and sad yet we still want to know more, devastating for the families, this was well read, I have a low attention span and I drift away without knowing a lot and it didn’t happen so much while listening to this which shows it’s good,
