Great book - bad narration
I absolutely loved the book, nostalgic, funny, plenty of the pop culture refrences (as is expected from a buffy story!) but I hated the narrative. it was nasal and robotic and way to slow for me personally. I actually had to increase the speed of the narrator as I felt the slow pace actually made the story feel slow this made it difficult to get into.

I didn’t want to like it
I do and I don’t like this. I am a huge buffy fan
And I have a prop replica scythe under my bed.
So any buffy material is good
I liked chosen and slayer that were written a few years ago this was better… I just wished they had been original in character development. Didn’t like the idea of spike as a watcher… and the new slayer being willows daughter.
The return to sunnydale was a bit ike too
But the hell mouth does cast power over ignorance and well USA does seam the home of ignorance even in the real world.
Always did like vi I even wrote my own fan fiction back in the day and she was my featured character lol.
I dunno let’s see what the next one brings to this 40 year olds gay heart

nice story but not great
I liked the story it drew me in quickly dispite me not being the biggest of buffy fans. The story was fun and while Sarah had some weaker points she was consistent and a pleasure to listen to.
the story itself however had some flaws and from time to time it looked like it didnt know where it was headed. It also gave off fanfic vibes all in all certainly worth the listen

Weird to get into it…
The whole story and how it departs from the tv show felt really weird to get into. At times it felt really forced especially since many anecdotes from the tv show are constantly brought back and mentioned so it felt like the book was trying to keep your eyes forcibly opened and as if to say “I’m part of the universe, see? I know what happened in the show so I am legit too!! I am legit I AM LEGIT!!!!!”
I found the overall story of the main character kind of a classic to be honest. Another girl who is THE one and she is THE one in her own right because she is the first to be this new version…
They did the same with Slayer by Kiersten White which I had just finished before this one, so it felt repetitive and tropey.
But I was able to let all the above go and tried to enjoy the book for what it was. And I hope you can too as it is fun after all and anything that takes me back into Buffy’s universe always feels like a warm hug!

the slayer is back
Really liked this new spin on Buffy the vampire slayer. The story gives you the same vibes as the show and the narration is fab.

Wow
I didn't think I'd like this being a fan of the film and TV series, especially as it doesn't feature Buffy herself, but I've got to say I really enjoyed it and listenep to it in 2 days. I can't wait for the next installment (I hope there'll be another!). I don't like the idea of a Buffy reboot TV series with the original characters cast with new actors but if the premise of this book were used, it would be a whole other matter and I think it would work really well. Frankie Rosenberg, Slayerwitch. Ace, I'd watch it!

A must for Buffy fans - the Scooby's are back!
I loved this book - a great mix of old and new. lots of the old characters, plenty of new ones, a new slayer and a new scooby gang. really enjoyed this first installment, really hope there are more to come.
