Summary

Keith A Pearson's time-travel adventure, In Lieu of You, centres on a relationship question many have pondered: Where would I be today if I hadn't met that one person?

Hypothetically, we might want to know the answer. In reality, though?

Gary and Clare Kirk are set to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary...except they’re not. Childless, and with so little in common, the couple finally accept there’s no good reason to remain married.

However, Gary’s idea of an amicable divorce settlement differs significantly from Clare’s, and tensions between the couple soon mount. Money, as is often the case, is at the root of their disagreement.

As Gary explores every avenue to evade his wife’s financial demands, he inadvertently finds himself sitting opposite a relationship resolution advisor by the name of Edith Stimp. The mysterious Mrs Stimp then suggests a solution as unorthodox as it is unbelievable—a brief journey back in time to the day Gary first met Clare.

If he accepts the unlikely trip back to 1996, all Gary has to do is prevent his teenage self from meeting his future wife. If they never meet, they never marry, and there won’t be a financially-crippling divorce—what could be simpler?

For better or for worse, Gary Kirk is about to find out.

I loved this book ! Another great story from Keith A Pearson

I have read most of Keith’s books and enjoyed them all and this one is up there with my favourites. He is a great storyteller, he pulls you in early on, it’s easy to engage with the characters and he always has you on the edge of your seat anxious to know what’s going to happen next ! I love the time travel element it is cleverly written and transports you back to that era ( if you’re old enough to remember it which I definitely am!) The narration was excellent too which makes such a difference to the whole experience. Already looking forward to his next book !

A Thought-Provoking Journey Through Time and Choices

"In Lieu of You" is a captivating mix of mystery, time travel, and personal reflection. Keith A. Pearson masterfully weaves together humour and emotion, creating relatable characters facing complex choices. The pacing is smooth, with enough twists to keep you hooked without feeling overwhelming. If you're a fan of well-written stories that make you think about 'what ifs' in life, this is definitely worth a listen. It’s imaginative, funny, and surprisingly touching. Highly recommended for fans of modern fiction with a unique twist.

Loved it

I really enjoyed this. It takes a while to get to the time travel part but it's required so that you know the characters. Lovely little twist towards the end and a perfect finish. Definitely recommend.

Fantastic as always

Keith is undoubtedly one of my favourite ever authors. Never has he written a book I didn’t love, even the ones I have felt questioned at the start, I have ended feeling bereft to have finished. As always, this didn’t disappoint. A truly heart warming, interesting story. Excellent mr Pearson, excellent.
