About this listen

A bloodthirsty sheriff is terrorizing a small Texas town where justice has been buried with his victims. Until Nameless arrives - a vigilante whose past is a mystery and whose future is written in blood.

Anyone who crosses Sheriff Russell Soakes is dead, missing, or warned. One of them is a single mother trying to protect her children but bracing herself for the worst. Nameless fears the outcome. He’s seen it in his visions. Now it’s time to teach the depraved Soakes a lesson in fear. But in turning predators into prey, will Nameless unearth a few secrets of his own?

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Dean Koontz comes In the Heart of the Fire, part of Nameless, a riveting collection of short stories about a vigilante nomad, stripped of his memories and commissioned to kill. Follow him in each story, which can be read or listened to in a single sitting.

5/5*

For such a short book the story was coherent and enjoyable, with well-read narration. Good stuff 5/5 *

Satisfying Listen

I liked the different perspectives given in the story. It allowed for a rich detail in what is quite a short read/listen.

I'm not quite used to the thriller book genre just yet, so am still getting used to what other, more regular readers may take for granted (e.g. the stoic simplicity in which the main character talks - which I found a little kitschy at first, which is more a comment on me as a listener than the actual story).

Great performance by the narrator/actor.

I'd recommend this to a reader who wants to get to dip their toe into thrillers etc.

Overall, thought the story was really well tied together and tight.

Interesting plot but way too short

It was an interesting story and very easy to read through, I've finished it in less than an hour. However, I feel that the whole book is really short and more details could've been given about the characters and their background. Great performance of the reader, his voice is clear, with no difficult accent or boring, emotionless flow.

Short story brilliance

I've never read the Nameless series. Now I want to. A great introduction to a new fan of the series (I hope the other stories are just as good)

Great stories with the perfect narrator..

Each book is wonderfully written.
You don't need the whole series as each book stands tall on it's own.
If you can buy them all it is well worth it.
I highly recommend them !!!

Another gripping tale

Very well narrated. Atmospheric. Keeps you interested until the end which you don't want to rush.
