Great story
John Durgin is a fantastic author and Joe Hempel is a great narrator.
A dysfunctional family needs to escape the mob and they hide out in a place nobody knew they owned. However, soon enough they find themselves between a rock and a hard place with a menace from the lake on the property and the gunmen on their trails. With dad's mental health already in a steep decline, will they be able to get through it all unscathed?
If you love The Shining at all, this is a must for you.

Caution, Vodyanoi in pond
Well I'll start by stating that I almost loved this, it would have been five stars from me if only the females weren't portrayed as so weak and feeble. it's not a book written back in the dark ages of the seventies so I expected more from Holly but she came up trumps in the end (through sheer desperation).
But I did very much enjoy this book, it's pretty solid storytelling and features the Slavik deity Vodyanoi which is the main source of trouble making if we exclude the mob.
The narration is great as you'd expect from Joe Hempel and the story is solid so I totally recommend this one.
I was lucky enough to receive my copy free of charge in exchange for my honest review.

Don't go near the pond!
A brilliant book that grabs hold right from the start, and is non stop until the last word. The narrator did a fantastic job too. Highly recommend.

Exciting take on the haunted woods story
A very good freah take on the haunted cabin in the woods story all of the characters are very likable and it is one of the very few books that I can say isn't the typical ghoul and ghost story its very different to most things out here but the cult and way it all falls into things is very much a fresh and much needed injection into the horror genre

4,5 stars book with a 5 star narration!
Great cult horror story, I won't look at a pond in the same way. Violent and tense with fleshed out characters that you care about. Need more Durgin in my reading from now on!!
Joe Hempel again delivers on the narration part!

What a ride!
Inside the Devil's Nest by John Durgin and narrated by Joe Hempel, is a fast-paced book that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. It's a gruesome story with likeable characters (although not flawless) that I couldn't stop listening to and rooting for them. I intend to read more from this author.

Marvellously Malevolent
Anthony witnesses a mob murder and has to go on the run with his family. Anthony is an estate agent and had, in the past, purchased a neglected campsite, the land is feared by the locals, superstitious rumours abound but it’s a safe place for Anthony and his family. Is the evil on the campground worse than the men hunting them.
This a cracking supernatural horror, creepy and unsettling. It is the Goodfellas/Shining/Wicker Man crossover we all needed. There is a marvellous malevolence seeping through this story, it is scrumptious! It has relentless mobsters, a malicious cult, it twists and turns to an explosive finale. John really knows how to crank up the tension and it just keeps getting better as the story unravels. A fast and terrifying ride. Wonderful!
I listened to this on audio and the narrator, Joe Hempel is exceptional!
