About this listen

Receiving unwanted attention after foiling an armed robbery, the unhuman Inspector Hobbes takes a long-overdue camping holiday with Andy, his accident-prone friend, and Dregs, the delinquent dog. In the bleak and dangerous Blacker Mountains, Andy stumbles across something shocking before falling for an attractive widow, while Hobbes wonders why an old gold mine has reopened.

On their return to the sleepy Cotswold town of Sorenchester, Hobbes is dumbfounded when Kathy, a reminder of his hippy days, turns up on the doorstep with her baggage. Since Hobbes has to solve a gold robbery and contemplate some perfectly ordinary rocks, Andy must entertain Kathy while trying to protect his new love from a monstrous opponent working for the sinister Sir Gerald Payne. Despite his usual blunders and an inability to throw straight, Andy displays genuine courage.

Can Andy survive dinner with a vampire? Can Hobbes recover the gold? And what is Kathy's relationship to Hobbes?

This, the third in Wilkie Martin's Unhuman series of fast-paced comedy crime fantasies, will reveal all.

A lovely bit of fun

I've read this myself on kindle edition but Tim Campbell does it so much better. Fantastic characterisation. Certainly not what you'd call a high brow read but a good bit of fun from Willie Martin and a thoroughly enjoyable yarn, chock full of chuckles

Just fun books

I do enjoy the inspector hobbes books, they are a bit supernatural but not too much.

Tickled and thrilled to bits.

Love the narrator and how they bring life to the characters created by the author.
Simply, isn't that what you wish from an audiobook?

Fantastic third story in series

A great follow on with a slightly different stand of story the well known characters go on. As good as the first 2 books in the series.

another brill book

yet again Hobbs and Andy surpass my expectations. I'd love to have tea made by Mrs G. all character's are so warm and lovable. glad to find out a bit about Hobbs but wondering if there's something a little special about Andy too. as much as I love the books I'm terrified of getting to the end and hope there will be many many more to come.
