About this listen

"REALISTIC, GRITTY, AND FILLED WITH HOPE, HEROISM AND ACTION!"

Three years long years of tyranny and bloodshed have passed since the invasion of Europe. Now a new dawn rises?

A nuclear attack shatters the fragile peace between Beijing and Baghdad. In Europe, Caliphate forces are driven back across a war-torn Ireland and into the sea.

As the tide turns and hope rises, hard decisions are about to be made.

Britain's most senior judge, a ruthless tyrant and zealous caliphate disciple, is determined to crush the seeds of rebellion with her own brutal form of justice.

A British resistance operative, embedded amongst the country's cruel elites, must put his own life at risk as the walls close in around him.

Meanwhile, far to the north, the King's Continental Army is preparing for all-out war. Within its ranks, four soldiers - friends - stand ready to assault the deadliest frontier imaginable, one that stands between them and the liberation of their homeland.

And when the uprising begins, the battle that follows might cost them all their lives.

9/10 - absolutely superb.

I loved the new characters, loved the setting. DC Alden really knocked it out of the park. My only complaint is that we didn’t see some of the first books characters back in this one, but the new ones were brilliant also.

Another Cracker in the Series...

Deeply developed and believable characters, plenty of realistic action. Questions of morality, self-preservation and collaboration...

I especially liked the interaction between the soldiers, witty, humorous and always truthfully brutal.

Great, consistent narration. Convincing accents and emotion.

Can't wait for the next one.

Excellent 2nd Part to Series

I really enjoyed the 1 book, which I thought was a one off so was really glad to see a second part. The story zipped along well and there was a good mix of characters and descriptions of the wider event, can’t wait for part 3

Another juggernaut

Same great storytelling and narration. The new characters are expertly introduced and brought to life (and death).
