About this listen
In a world on the brink, survival isn’t just a game—it’s the only game. But when only one soul holds all the cards, they get to play however they want.
Argrave, the royal bastard of House Vasquer, went into his magic apprenticeship cruel and awkward, yet left it with a neat dignity and an acerbic wit. But beneath the veneer of self-assurance, the body’s new soul is wrestling with the dread of existence in a reality that once existed only in the pages of fantasy.
In the blink of an eye, a wiki editor’s deep and somewhat unhealthy understanding of a game becomes useful, usable knowledge when he inexplicably replaces the once-cruel royal bastard. Before he can start to push his frail body to use his deep understanding of the lore to handle the imminent apocalypse, or go off to stop an invasion, there’s a more personal task he needs to handle first. His cousin has a knife in her hand, and death in her eyes.

MASTERPIECE
This book is amazing!! It's the kind of story that you can't feel asleep to.. I literally lost a few hours of sleep due to it. 😂
It follows the ideas of many popular manga/anime where the Mc is reborn/transfered to the Mc's favourite game/story where he has the knowledge of most characters, and activities that are due to happen, etc. It's very well written and the narration is top notch!!

A twisting and exciting tale
I have received this free copy for an honest review. This is honestly one of the best books I've recently listened to. With some exciting abd different point of view, our mc is unusual and unexpected, weak beyond measure and quirky but grows well and is very strategic. I cannot wait to see what the rest of his story has saved for us! The audio is awesome and very immersive! I definitely recommend it!

This deserves a lot more Recognition
One of the better stories from Royal Road. A very solid MC, gripping story and action.
I read the story on Royal Road first and always wondered why this one didn’t have an audiobook.
Tried the audiobook and found the story even better in this format.
Pleasantly surprised by the narrator so it’s a solid buy recommendation from me.
Will be buying the next one, so I hope it comes soon.

great read, terrible listen
great story, great character, but ruined by narrator, he has great voice and usually I like other books narrated by him, but for some inexplicable reason in this book he decided to voice MC as drama club wannabe and MC lines ranges in different tone and voice every few lines... it breaks immersion every single time...

Excellent, original and entertaining throughout
-Performance; the voices are excellent in this. The choices for Argrave, the MC, in particular are pretty fantastic - with the vocals changing pace and tone moment to moment to reflect his erratic nature. Very few performers have such distinctive voices for each character, but Luke Daniels succeeds in making each character feel alive
-Story: I previously read some of the Royal Road chapters and re-listening was just as fantastic. It's a great story, the characters feel natural, the plot is engaging, and the laughs (while not regular) are impactful when they do occur.
Can't recommend this one enough - if you're a fan of litRPG/transmigration genre novels at all this one is a must-listen.

Finally on Audio
This series is one I've long enjoyed, and Luke Daniels absolutely kills it as Argrave.
The wait for future audio/book releases will be dreadful if enjoyable when they arrive.
