Summary
On just another average day, Jake finds himself in a forest filled with monsters, dangers, and opportunity....
It was a day like any other when suddenly the world changed. The universe reached a threshold humanity didn’t even know existed, and it was time to finally be integrated into the vast multiverse. A place where power is the only thing anyone can truly rely on.
Jake, a seemingly average office worker, finds himself thrust into this new world. Into a tutorial filled with dangers and opportunities.
His new reality should breed fear and concern. His fellow coworkers falter at every turn. Jake, however, finds himself thriving.
Perhaps... This is the world Jake was meant to be born in.

The good is better than the bad(barely).
The good first.
Story is decent, the characters are interesting and the author doesn’t just make the MC op, but actually gives the other characters their own powers. Sure, the MC is op, but he actually has some opponents that gives of the feeling that they can beat him. The characters also seem competent most of the time.
The narrator is pretty good. He isn’t great for different kinds of voices, but the MC is decent. Lack of vocal differences sums it up.
The worst flaw of the book is that the author hasn’t mattered the art of “show, don’t tell”. This is a flaw with all authors who writes these kinds of stories. They want to show off a side of a power or character or some backstory, but u don’t get to experience it. The author just says it is. The MC is fast? Fast a a car. The thoughts of the MC? Detailed explanation of why the MC thinks that way, but he doesn’t let the audience experience it. It’s just told.
This is an issue most litrpg authors has, because they think we will find it cool to just be told someone can do something. We would like to experience it. It’s why most of these series just gets worse and worse with more books.
Conclusion. It’s a decent enough read, but nothing major. Some boring parts that I just skipped. Fighting is also pretty interesting, but again, only when fighting people. Fighting beasts are pretty boring.

“A plan that could be roughly boiled down to just wing it”
Thoroughly enjoyable rpg. Nice to have a character going off solo as so many focus on team building. Sometimes the story slowed down, but there’s a ton of fighting to keep you interested.
Great magic/skills system.
Excellent narration with great pacing, intensity and chatter voices.
Really looking forward to the next book in the series!
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

We need to talk about Carl
What happens when the scenario for dungeon crawler Carl happens to the psychopathic archer in we need to talk about Kevin? This is what happens.
The writing style is pretty childish, I started a drinking game for every time the word penetrated appeared, and that was just one of the quirks I struggled with. Linguistically, the narrating style would make so much more sense if it was first person but it just sounds weird as a third person narration.
I think the author might have done a story writing course halfway through the book because after several hours there suddenly appears a ton of character progression for multiple characters almost entirely out of nowhere. Other characters continue to have huge information dump style character development sporadically.
I probably won’t read The next book unless I get very bored. Even if the scenario is a worse version of dungeon crawler Carl, there are some interesting aspects to the world, but I’m not sure they’ve been fully thought through at this point as I don’t get the impression the author has a detailed plan of the world. This is possibly a weakness of episodic writing, I believe this was released as a series online but this means when the author develops a piece of the world it can’t be seeded in an earlier chapter, so everything is just being made up on the spot making it feel clumsy.

Total snoozefest
Is your favorite thing about MMO RPG the endless grinding and shallow character creation? Then this book is for you. if you enjoy character dept, story development or anything else than xp grinding, then save your credit and move on. This book is just endless skill grinding with zero plot or character development.

Good story bad narrator
I like the story and all however the narrator is a let down as all of the characters he voice all sound basically the same, which is just annoying and i feel that if it was narrated by someone else for example nick podehl the performance would have been much better. So im going to have to miss the next bok if its the same narrator sadly.

Oooppsss
This book isn't so much a story but more an instruction manual or explanation manual, even during fight scenes

Really enjoyed it! Bravo!
The story was great! I can not wait for the next audiobook!
Loved the narrator as well. Really pleasant to listen to! First time listening to Mr. Baldree but I will be checking out his other work for sure.
It just felt like a great all-round book! The sense of progression was amazing, highly addictive and kept me wanting to know how the MC and the overall story would progress.
It struck a good balance of story, progression, character development, including others than the MC. Everything felt relevant to the story and the "stage" that was created.
Really happy and excited about this series! I am sure it will be amazing!

engaging story, likeable main character
its a new story but follows the litrpg path like so many others, thats not to say its boring or poorly written or performed as its better balanced than most regarding focus on listing player stats which it does but its a bit toned down thankfully. performance is good and narrative keeps you engaged & invested in the main character. its probably worth waiting for the next book to see where the author takes us as I did feel that the ending of this book was a bit meh! thats to say there was no real cliffhanger to get the anticipation or interest up for next installment.
final thought: give it a chance, the next book will make or break it i reckon?

it's okay
Lacked a lot in world building and character/relationship development. Also ended at a pretty unsatisfying point.
