Summary

Want to know more about history and politics? Then you should probably go and listen to a proper audiobook. Fancy a laugh at some smutty jokes? Then go and read Viz. But if you fancy a combination of the two, this is the audiobook for you.

In Off the Record, bitter and twisted leftie news reporter Jonathan Pie picks 10 of the world's worst wankers and tears them apart.

Here you'll find the answers to some difficult questions. Was Blair just a Tory in disguise? Did Cameron really have relations with that pig? Just how did we end up with President Donald Trump?

It's the ultimate guide to political arseholery. With extra swearing.

Ok but gets a bit tedious

I bought this audiobook because I enjoy the short video clips that pop up on Facebook from time to time; those mildly humourous rants about the state of modern politics. This book, in many ways, is more of the same, although the author uses the device of basing each chapter on a person he hates, some of whom are historical. What I learned, however, is that something that is interesting and entertaining in a two-minute video grows quite tiresome in longer form, and is more like listening to your dad rant about politics after a couple of sherries on Christmas Day. It’s not entirely bad, but the shtick grows old quickly.

If You Love Jonathan Pie, You'll Love This!

Title is pretty self-explanatory.
One niggle I'd raise is that it is a bit short, but the contents are suitably comedic and on-the-nose to appeal to Pie fans, and those more generally who like to view politics more cynically.

Couldn’t stop laughing and nodding

I wasn’t sure what to expect but this was a very enjoyable listen for a couple of hours. Of course I was shopping at the time so must have looked very strange bent over laughing like a hyena at regular intervals!

Laugh out loud hilarious political rantings!

Teetering on the edge of being poignantly truthful yet exaggerated, this book is a must read for fans of the satirical genius that is Jonathan Pie! Also a great intro for newbies to his work. Highly recommend! 10/10

Awful

Remedial and aggressively unfunny. One of the worst books imaginable - like a middle aged man who got into politics cos his wife left and took the kids. Vacuous, heartbreakingly bad.

Off your head

politics with a comic edge, we'll you may not always agree with the politics but a book with Henry the eighth, Simon Cowell and Donald trump can't be all bad, a great listen.

Off the Record

Funny as ever. I am not even offended. Probably could do with a second edition in a couple of years to add a few names.

Ace as ever Pie is.

Lots of laughs at a terrifying world. I especially like the re-education of the pompously smug guardian politically correct gone mad types as I might have been suffering a touch of that myself. Good work.

Great, therapeutic ranting

Great therapeutic ranting that actually contains sane political analysis. Trust me, your frustration and need to scream into the void needs this!
