About this listen
Fans of James Patterson or Michael Connelly will love C. M. Sutter.
They can’t keep up with the body count he leaves behind.
FBI Agents Jade Monroe and J.T. Harper are on the trail of their most recent serial killer, but they know his whereabouts only by the carnage left in his wake. By the time they reach his most recent location, he’s long gone. Without a clear description of the man, they’re chasing a shadowy figure that people see from a distance—a ghost—that’s killing at an alarming rate. A stroke of luck brings the agents face-to-face with a survivor. What they learn from the woman’s hospital bed description of her brutal attacker changes everything. The situation has suddenly become more than dangerous—and to Jade, more than personal.
“Investigators believe three young women were mauled by bears but soon find out they were actually victims of a monstrous murderer, and newly minted FBI agent Jade Monroe is brought in to help find him. The killer is clever enough never to be seen on surveillance camera, and Jade and company start to believe they’re following a ghost. The body count goes up, and so do the stakes for finding this madman, who begins to strike closer to home. Fans of Jade Monroe are in for an emotionally charged ride with Sutter’s latest, a most welcome addition to her terrific new FBI series.” (Angela M., editor, Red Adept Editing)

Weak unprofessional characters
Format: audiobook
Narrator: Meghan Kelly
If you’re expecting an accurate police procedural story this isn’t it, the agents regularly touch the dead bodies before anyone else but it’s ok because they cover their hands with their selves!
This is an ok read not a lot of action it’s mainly just the agents chasing the serial killer until the killer decides it’s time to conclude his spree. I have to be honest I didn’t really take to Jade Monroe so I’m unlikely to read/listen to anymore of the series.
The narrator does a good job though.

Rather disappointing FBI serial killer thriller
Having listened to book one of this series I was expecting it to follow on from that, but no, suddenly the man responsible for Jade's father's murder has ben caught, apparently by Jade, but none of this is included, although it is referred to as though we should know about it. I did hope that I would warm to Jade having found her rather annoying in the first book, but no she hasn't improved, still as arrogant and undisciplined as ever.
I didn't like the narration in book on, and it is still lacking in emotion in book two, making the whole audiobook rather flat and uninteresting.
For me the storyline wasn't as good as the first book, the killer basically runs rings around the supposedly crack FBI team until he basically presented himself to them. I also found the lack of forensic awareness shown by these FBI officers to be laughable, they never had rubber gloves available, so they avoided contaminating the scene by touching things through their sleeves, any professional CSI would have them thrown off the scene for such actions.
I have tried the first two books on audio and they aren't for me, I won't be looking for any more in this series.

Enjoyable series
I do like this series about a FBI agent, the crime was seriously intense and kept my attention whilst working out the motivations and then the capture. The narration really worked and suited the story.
