Summary

2013 Second Edition

Tired from going abroad on holiday and realizing just how little he knew about the country he lived in, Sean decided to take a month off, buy a bike, and cycle the iconic Land's End to John O'Groats, solo and unsupported. Sean faced cold nights in, wet days out, and nearly a month of his own thoughts while he had the adventure of a lifetime cycling through Britain.

"Every adventure cyclist needs to cycle around Britain. There is just so much to experience. If I had not done this ride then I probably wouldn't be where I am today."

Dire

One of the worst written books I’ve “read” in years narrated by the worlds most irritating man, I actually listened to the last 3 hours on 2.5X speed to get it over with as quickly as possible. If you’re looking for an interesting and witty account of a great adventure this isn’t it...

Don't bother

Boring uninspiring and annoying... how many words is that... yawn.
It must have been deliberately read fatalistic??
Nuts

More about the journey than the cycling

Entertaining story of every day adventure. It is more about the journey than the cycling.

Not as good as 'Cycling the Earth'

Listenable, but tries too hard to be funny. Just listen to his excellent 'Cycling the Earth' and leave it at that.

inspiring adventure

Sean's mini adventure is more like a giant adventure to us mere mortals. This is my second book by Sean Conway and I'm lining up the next

Worst narrator ever!!!!!

Story is pleasant enough. Narrator...what can I say?! He speaks as though English is a second or perhaps third language. His intonation and emphasis make it sound like a text to speech app - a really bad one. Initially all uk residents are apparently from the Lancashire area. This may not be a bad thing because when regional accents are attempted it’s a car crash, nothing less. Words as simple as breakfast and Keswick shouldn’t present a challenge to a voice actor - should they!?!? This guy is dreadful

Great book, narration not so great.

I love Sean Conway's books, the OTT narration is bugging me though, the narrator tries too hard and lacks the sincerity necessary for one to identify with the story. It's almost like it's being read for children.

Really good story.

Really good story and funny to boot. Would recommend to anyone, not just for those who cycle.

One of Conway's funniest

Earlier in his writing career but still a gem, and possibly funnier for it. Did find the audio a little distracting with the total over pronunciation of 'a' all the time.
Would be good to re-record with Sean himself!

Excellent and funny

Great listen and very funny stories. I’ve listened to another book of Sean’s trip around the world and although shorter I think this book is even better
