About this listen
From the day her first Vampire Chronicle was published, critics and readers - readers by the hundreds of thousands - have been mesmerized by the writings of Anne Rice. And with the publication of The Witching Hour, she created for us yet another world and legend, and both the chorus of praise and the multitudes of her readers and listeners once more increased.
Now, Anne Rice brings us again - even more magically - into the midst of the dynasty of witches she introduced in The Witching Hour.
At the center: the brilliant an beautiful Rowan Mayfair, queen of the coven, and Lasher, the darkly compelling demon whom she finds irresistible and from whose evil spell and vision she must now flee. She takes with her their terrifying and exquisite child, one of "a brood of children born knowing, able to stand and talk on the first day".
Rowan's attempt to escape Lasher and his pursuit of her and their child are at the heart of this extraordinary saga. It is a novel that moves around the globe, backward and forward through time, and between the human and demonic worlds. Its many voices - of women, of men, of demons and angels, present and past - haunt and enchant us. With a dreamlike power, the novel draws us through twilight paths, telling a chillingly hypnotic story of occult and spiritual aspirations and passion.

Long but entertaining
The second of the Mayfair books.
A bit long especially when stories back in time are told.
But the characters are as always with Anne Rices novels, great fun to get to know

A fitting sequel.
Best to view this as an extension of the first book rather than a book on its own. I have seen other reviews criticise the character development in this compared to book 1 but I find that unfair ~ if it was one enormous book it would sit perfectly. I enjoyed this directly after book 1 and how I would recommend it. Now for Taltos! Book 3!

Beautifully written, beautifully read,
Where does Lasher rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Impossible to rank a book that is part of such a unique story. Is is tantalising and haunting from beginning to end.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Lasher?
I would have to say Rowan's plight when he held her captive, his treatment of her was so horrific and yet his needs, his yearning, his isolation tugged at my heart strings.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
I really enjoyed getting to know Uri, a relatively uncomplicated storyline which allows one to catch a breath from the dizzying plots, twists and turns of the Mayfair clan.
I also found the character of Emaleth captivating.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Well that would have been impossible as the book is so long but I did my best, listening to it on my phone whilst cooking, cleaning, gardening and cutting the hedges....
Any additional comments?
As just about to embark on the journey of Taltos .

Just as freaky as the previous book’s ending
I was so freaked out all the way through but Rice’s writing compelled me to keep listening. Good grief what a rollercoaster.

I loved it, as I have all of Anne Rice's books.
I have read and listened to many of Anne Rice's Books over the last nearly 30 years. the Mayfair Witches are new to me and I have loved the world created. Thought provoking content. I loved the narrator and her style, it suited the book well.
