About this listen

Only a bad nanny knows what it’s like to kiss the boss.

CEO millionaire Max Fletcher is a single dad in desperate need of a nanny. Cozy Barlow is in the middle of her self-appointed “gap year” and doing everything she can to detach from her past. But when her sister begs her to interview for the nanny position of a high-maintenance client, she doesn’t have a good enough reason to say no. And when Max locks eyes on the 20-something in a tie-dye sweat suit who pitches the idea of daydreaming all summer—he prepares to give this bad nanny the boot.

One problem: Max’s little girl thinks this plus-sized in body and spirit nanny might be her new bestie, so she hires her on the spot.

Now Max is stuck with this bizarre woman who hates everything he represents—corporate greed, money, status, power. But one stormy night when the power goes out, he discovers Cozy doesn’t hate him. In fact, he’s the leading role in her fantasies.

Fantasies he would very much like to make a reality.

So steamy yet sickeningly sweet

This book was a great rom-com with a whole lot of steam! I absolutely loved parts of the read and other parts I didn't care for, hence the 3 star rating. I thought Cozy's character was incredible! I loved her from the moment she came blazing into Max's office in a flury of tie-dye! She was so confident but laid back. She was clearly driven and successful but in her own way that made her happiest. She was so good with Everly and her empathy and compassion shined through this read.

I also loved Max and all that he was. A little grumpy, a little guarded, a whole lot sexy and protective! His back story with his ex-wife Jessica was heartbreaking but you could see so much growth and maturity come from their situation. I actually really liked Jesssica's character and it's not often you like the ex in a romance book!

I enjoyed the cameos from all of the Wait With Me series characters and how they embraced Cozy into their crew. She fit right into the chaos!

Here's what I didn't care so much for...
Everly, Max's daughter, was written as though she was of kindergarten age and it wasn't until almost mid-way through the book that I realized she was actually 11 years old. Her character was written so immaturely that I couldn't have ever believed she was 11. Later in the read it seemed like the author wrote her with a little more maturity, which I appreciated.

The first time Max called Cozy "sweet cheeks" it was hot because the name was fitting for the intimate scene. But the more he kept calling her that, the more it made me cringe. It felt very degrading to her plus size character.

Overall this book was quite funny and very steamy! I loved the chemistry between the main characters and I actually really enjoyed the break down of their relationship and watching them get over their differences to repair it. The "break up" made sense in this romance read, which it usually never does! Cozy's grand gesture was so cute!

The narration for this book was phenominal, as always when it comes to Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton.

Hilarious

4.5 stars

I always love an Amy Daws book. They never fail to light up my day and hit the mark when it comes to humour and family dynamics.

Max and Cassandra a.k.a Cosy are complete opposites. Or at least that's what Max thinks. Max needs a nanny to help with his daughter Everly and what he never expects is a carefree, anti-corporate, "why do more, when you can do nothing" hottie barrelling through his office door.

These two have some close proximity moments, especially when they started the ball rolling with their sexual attraction in the summer house when the electricity all went off. That whole scene had me laughing from start to finish. As their relationship blossoms into something so much more than CEO and nanny, walls start to come down and Max really starts to see how he needs to change his outlook on the world he's creating for Everly and how maybe this care-free nanny is helping him in more ways than one.

I loved this book, especially seeing all the characters from the other books. I'm so excited for the spin-off series with Max's brothers. That is gonna be a hell of a ride.

Finally a millionaire/nanny trope that rocks…

I think what takes the cake for this book is it’s genuine self-awareness. From the reality of Cozy’s confident self-love, to the ethical quandary of screwing the nanny, to the gross underbelly of a millionaire/billionaire tropes in romance writing (ahem…corporate greed), Amy Daws knew what she wanted this story to be and didn’t have any compunctions addressing the grey areas that are so often glossed over in romance. Throw in stellar pacing, spunky characters, good chemistry, AND the narration? Yeah, this was a cut above.

Highly recommend spending a credit etc. on this beauty.

Single parent and plus size nanny

Max and Cozy's story had me laughing and enjoying the story overall, I love the series, but this is not my favorite one, it felt like the story had a good plot, but to make it longer it just started to get the extra drama that didn't hook me, the pacing was good overall, perhaps because I got the audiobook version narrated by two very talented narrators Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon, that made me enjoy it more. I love that the author included a plus-size heroine and that made it more refreshing.

I loved it

It’s warm, funny and the spicy scenes were surprising as I wasn’t expecting it given the plot line narrative.

Humor and steam

Max and Cozy’s book is fun of humor, steam and aww moments. I absolutely adored the whole family dynamic and the grumpy hero and sunshine heroine was done so well here. I’m the messages in this book are also really poignant and beautiful- to live for the moment, to enjoy life and to laugh and smile as much as possible. I spent most of the book smiling and Everly, Max’s daughter, was a wonderful character that added to the emotions of the story.

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon. As these two are a couple of my favorites, I knew the narration would be wonderful and of course it was! These two can really bring a listener into the story fully!

Deliciously sexy romcom

Once again, the author mixes a deliciously sexy romcom with a generous amount of serious questions about life and relationships. This time, the burden of a toxic workplace environment and the acceptance of one’s sexuality can be seen between the torrid encounters of billionaire Max with his big younger nanny. And it works so well.

Her characters are total opposites. On one hand, there’s Max, the single dad billionaire totally devoted to his daughter despite his huge responsabilities and heavy workload. On the other hand, Cozy, his new nanny, a plus-size young woman whose motto is to do less. Between them, Everly as the perfect bridge. The kid was unknowingly a little matchmaker in the making.

The attraction is strong right from the beginning. I loved that Cassandra recognized Max’s lust, with only a touch of doubt but no more than any other female character in romance where the girl always feels like she isn’t enough. She wasn’t always completely confident about her physique and size, but she wasn’t hiding herself either most of the time, and she didn’t need other people to validate her. The doubts she had about her value had nothing to do with her size–won’t say what they were though, it was an interesting revelation in the book.

I’m still not completely sure about the appearance of all the characters in the series. It felt more like fanservice even when they had some impact on Cozy and Max’s relationship. I loved Max’s brothers though. The couple of scenes they were in were funny and helped define Max’s character.

It was only a tiny part of the story, but I quite enjoyed the powerful LGBTQ+ message. Acceptance, support–financially and emotionally–and the fact that it’s Max who delivers it. All of that was nice and positive.

What can I say about the narration? The narrators are back for the fifth book of the series and they fit the author’s words so well. A match made in heaven. They have the energy, the comic timing, and the right delivery for both sexy and emotional lines. This series is so great.
