About this listen

A MONSTER MURDERED

It's only ten days since Douglas Remfry's release from prison, having served seven years for rape, and now he's dead: naked on a bare mattress in a grubby north London hotel room, his head hooded and his hands tied with a brown leather belt.

A DEADLY JUSTICE

Someone knew he was coming out. Someone wanted to mete out some punishment of his own.

A CASE NO ONE WANTS SOLVED

And when a second sex offender is found dead, DI Tom Thorne knows he has a vicious, calculating viliglante on his hands...

Brilliant

The best so far I think. Can't wait to listen to the next one.

Good but...

I enjoyed this book but there were a few problems with it. Firstly, there are too many characters to keep up with. I understand the main ones but there are a lot of people on the fringes who i am not sure were totally necessary. I found myself forgetting who some of them were when they were brought up again, especially if it had been more then a day since I'd last listened to the book.
My other problem is that Thorne seems to go off in his own head a lot, seeing things that aren't necessarily there. I found it confusing sometimes because it's not always explained that that's what is happening. I wonder if perhaps if you were reading the book rather then listening then you would understand it better.
All that said though, i really like Thorne's character and I think Mark Billingham is a fantastic narrator. I will definitely listen to more of his books.

Another excellent listen

Another excellent listen from Mark Billingham. Dark and uncomfortable at times. On to the next in the series

Mark Billingham narrates his books brilliantly.

The story is dark and full of twists but Mark’s sense of humour shines through as does his love for a very particular taste in music. I did prefer his book, ‘The Silent Patient’, but this story is also very good. I have more to look forward to from the same author.

Beyond Good

Wow, this was a good listen to. I didn’t get who it was until the end, literally just before the climax of the investigation. Mark Billingham didn’t fail to deliver. I’ve only read his books previously and not had them narrated to me, the narration was ok.

Ticks all the boxes

Another hit from an author fast becoming a favorite. A web intricately woven till the spider is ready to devour its prey.
