Summary
Do you want to learn Spanish quickly, easily, and on your schedule? Then keep reading.
Hi friends, my name is Glenda, and teaching foreign languages is my passion! There are a lot of different ways to learn a language—studying books, taking a class, or even watching foreign movies. But I’m an auditory learner. I have to hear and repeat the language to make it stick. In fact, when I was a teenager taking Spanish classes, I would often make my own (cassette) recordings and study for my tests by listening to them.
All learning methods are valid! But there is only one you can so anytime and anywhere, and that’s what you’ll experience with this audiobook. Plus, you’ll get a free downloadable transcript, so you can read along or take notes.
I have taken great care to choose vocabulary and sentences that you can actually use! Each chapter is for a new situation you might find yourself in. For example:
- Being a tourist
- Getting around
- At the hotel
- Talking to kids
- Social media
- Agreeing and disagreeing
- On the phone
- Dealing with money
- Flirting (my favorite chapter!)
You’re in great hands with narrator Shea, who will give you the Spanish clearly and slowly, so you can repeat each phrase or sentence as you work through the audiobook. Helping people learn languages is my great joy, and I think I’ve made a tool that will really help people learn quickly, efficiently, and while having a ton of fun!
I hope you enjoy this audiobook!

Great way to learn, but speed adjustments needed
Having lived in the American Southwest for much of my life, I decided to pick up this book to brush up on my Spanish. This book did not only help. It was an essential resource in learning the language. The PDF was beneficial because I could reference everything in seconds while at my desk, riding in the back of a rented car, etc. The Audible app made that easy to read on my phone. I had to adjust the speed after the second time listening. I recommend that you listen once to familiarize yourself with the words and phrases and then listen again on the second pass. You need to adjust the narration speed, but that is easy to do in the app. I found the 1 time speed too slow, but 1.4 to 1.5 was perfect. Overall, this is one of the best language resources I have used. It is worthy of your audible credit, and I highly recommend it.

Utterly useless
Just a string of words that have no explanation or structure. “Do I need to go through the metal detector” is way beyond a beginner.

Not for me
The lessons were well explained but the content of the lesson was poor, not for me

Like having a teacher.
It’s like having a very patient teacher who really takes the time to make sure you understand. And then there’s the gap to repeat back, and it’s perfect. I love the narrator too - she’s great.

Loved it, but it makes me sleepy.
I have fallen asleep a few times, TBH. But I really do think it’s a smart way to learn. Picking up a lot!

Really getting the hang of it.
Pretty efficient way to learn. I really appreciate the thought of Glenda Greco. Because this book is very effective.

Really relaxing too.
When I listen to this audiobook - and it’s been just playing in my house the last few days - I get a really calm feeling. I know that’s not the point, but it’s a fringe benefit. And, I really am learning a ton.

Better than other similar audiobooks.
I think this is superior for two reasons. The pace. And the choice of vocabulary. It’s so easy to follow along with the voice in the recording, but it’s never slow enough to get boring. And having the chapters divided up into real-life situations is really smart. Other books just have stuff alphabetically! Why?

I used this on a trip to San Juan.
Okay, honestly most times I spoke Spanish, the person responded to me in English. I guess that’s Puerto Rico. But, I did get to try a lot of new stuff out, and the people there were very impressed. I also felt way safer knowing some Spanish, just incase I got in a jam. There’s a great chapter on “When Things Go Wrong” or something like that. I know that one really well. :)
