They were the Savages. Raiders from our distant past. Elites who left Earth to create tailor-made utopias aboard the massive lighthuggers that crawled through the darkness between the stars. But the people they left behind on a dying planet didn't perish in the dystopian nightmare the Savages had themselves created: they thrived, discovering faster-than-light technology and using it to colonize the galaxy ahead of the Savages, forming fantastic new civilizations that surpassed the wildest dreams of Old Earth.

We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Great book not 18 hours
Love the story. Hate the publisher. I paid for 18 hour audio book but got 16 hours then and 2 hour round table with the writers. Now I don't mind it being a 16 hour story but then my audio book says I have 2 hours left I'm expecting more to happen and not happy when the book just ends.

I finally get it. The writers are my new heroes.
Listen to the round table at the end of this book, it will open your eyes.
Let me re wind, I’ve been a fan of this series since the first book. I’m a Star Wars loving, sci fi nut British veteran. I always felt these books ripped some genres off a little but at the same time I felt these were the stories/ way Star Wars should have gone rather than the most recent trilogy. Additionally I love how they have collaborated so well while building this galaxy.
Guys, keep it up. You’re absolutely amazing and I love your work. 2 veterans smashing it out of the park👍

The book ends with TWO HOURS AND SEVENTEEN MINUTES LEFT!!!!
First of all, I actually got this book, listened to about an hour of it and couldn’t take it anymore, so I returned it. A few weeks later I read some more reviews and decided to give it another chance.
I don’t know which author it is, but one of them, or perhaps both, can be the most annoying and overly dramatic writers I can think of. It’s like they’re trying to be extremely deep in what they say but just bloviate about nonsensical things have almost no relevance to the story. Like describing something in four or five different ways, each description being more hollow and transparently pompous than the previous. Like to describe a hole. Literally, a hole. There’s three or four sentences describing a hole, and each one attempts to be more grandiose than the previous. It’s like someone high on painkillers trying to have a deep conversation about a thumbtack. It got to the point where I was yelling at my car speakers to “oh my god, just get on with the story already!!”
So I returned it. But, as I said, I gave it another chance and I’m glad I did. Ish.
The story is actually really good and they fill in a lot of the backstories for just about everyone. I truly enjoyed all of that, but then there’s the thing. The thing they did and, for some unknown reason, no one thought it was going to piss people off.
The book ends with 2 hours and 17 minutes left. Why, you ask?? For a “round table discussion”.
Personally, I don’t really care about the authors motivations, inspirations, tribulations or any other ations. I realize I’m most likely in the minority with that opinion, but it’s really not cool to sell a 17 hour audiobook and then have 2 hours of that filled with personal anecdotes and other things of that nature. Put out a free one with that stuff if you feel compelled, but don’t set people up for something and then pull the rug out from under them in what ends up being some of the most revealing and interesting parts of the series.
Seriously, all sorts of shockers are Laid out and then it just ends, followed by two hours of more bloviating.
And of course, as always, RC Bray is an absolute genius. You all know what I mean. He’s just amazing.
If I could have a beer with him and Ray Porter…. My life would be complete.

KTF
With the first book of season 2 I was a little put off. Ray was great, and it was a great stand alone book. But pretty much none of the characters returned and the story didn't continue anything from Season 1. Thankfully that is NOT the case with this one. Pretty much everything comes full circle. You WILL get answers and be left with so many questions. You guys did great. I can't believe the amount of buildup that went into this, it's amazing. There are so many small details that if you weren't paying attention you would miss and they come up in this book as important plot points. I can only imagine the amount of planning that went into tieing everything together. Ford went in the EXACT direction I wanted him too. Although, I'm still mad about the twist at the beginning but I think it's temporary... Keep up the awesome work guys.

Amazing Change of Pace
This was an amazing showcase for the writing of Anspach and Cole. The book takes you deeper into the Galaxy's Edge than I remember.
The favorites are there, Wraithe, Ravi, Prisma, Crash, Tyrus Rex, and more. It's full of revelations about Wraithe/Keil/Ford ...You just need to read it.
If you have not read other Galaxy's Edge books and are investigating this as a new read, do yourself a favor and start at the series beginnings. You won't regret it!!

Didn’t think they could pull it off, they did
I was worried, my concern was what direction the authors might take, if Anspach and Cole could pull it off, up the ante, go big, they do! I’m biased, love the GE universe, and while I can nit pick a bit, overall I thoroughly enjoyed this, the 11th book is fantastic, RC Bray is excellent, per usual. If you are a fan of military sci-fi, start with book one and enjoy the ride, you can thank me later.

absolutely blown away yet again.
I am blown away by this book. It answers so many questions but poses even more. The writing was as always thrilling and engaging. The performance by Bray is to be expected. It opens up the world to so many more wonderful stories and I wish I had a time machine to go into the future to listen to the rest of thd GE series right now.
