Summary

Leonard and Hungry Paul is the story of two friends who ordinarily would remain uncelebrated. It finds a value and specialness in them that is not immediately apparent and prompts the idea that maybe we could learn from the people that we overlook in life.

Leonard and Hungry Paul change the world differently to the rest of us: we try to change it by effort and force; they change it by discovering the small things they can do well and offering them to others.

An absolute gem

What an absolutely fantastic book. The pleasure of family and friends, and accepting people for who they are.
Enjoying people's differences and finding comfort in subtle familiarity.
A must read for anyone who enjoy wonderful character building and who finds great pleasure in the 'everydayness' of life. A wonderful book with excellent narration.

Leonard and Hungry Paul are completely fine!

A witty, quirky, charming novel about two unusual understated friends, in their thirties and still living at home with their parent(s), playing board games and sharing interesting facts.

It was a joy to share their world and hoping their is a sequel!

Beautifully written & delivered perfectly

Absolutely loved this story, the author has a brilliant turn of phrase and the reader captures the characters perfectly. One of those books that I think may well be even better on audio than in print because it has been so skilfully read. The story itself is charming and a wonderful distraction. If you like The Rosie Project you would love this.

A subtle story about friendship

I was captured within the first few minutes of these beautifully read, gentle tale about friendship, cleverly observed human behaviour and filled with the warmth and humour. Loved it.

Simply a beautiful book

I’ve read this book 3 times now. The physical book, the ebook & now the Audible version. I always describe it as a gentle hug of a book that leaves me with a huge smile on my face. I have dipped into the physical book several times just to re-read favourite passages. It’s a joy & should not be missed. The narration was excellent

Beautiful original story.

Loved this book - didn’t want it to end. John Hopkins did a great job and will appeal to most listeners but I’d love to have had a narrator from Dublin for this book.

Lovely book

Lovely gentle novel, especially if you are quiet or an introvert - it’s rare that a book celebrates those characters.

I was unsure about the accent of the narrator, I think it should be in an Irish accent. RP people say ‘mum’ not ‘mam’, and a few other things just didn’t fit this accent, although it was read well enough, and I’d recommend it overall.
