Summary

A real page turner

This audiobook is a gem, the story grips you immediately and the narrator is truly excellent. I finished in a few days, and will continue with "20 and après"! (Mind you, this audiobook is in French).

Excellent Production

Putting aside the fact that this is a fantastic story with rich and lively characters set in an amazing period of history that will have you laughing, crying, and occasionally gasping in shock -- wait, am I speaking in English? Oh, right, yes -- I, a reluctantly English person, have also been using this audiobook to improve my French, and Bernard Bollet is a *fantastic* reader for this book. Not only does he have a rich and clear voice of his own to actually tell the story, he manages to provide every character with their very own voice, making it effortless to follow who is talking, truly feeling what they're saying, and even making it clear what their personality, background and original nationality might be. Excellent work!
And the more I listen to it, the more my French takes on the qualities of a 19th century narrative telling the tales of 17th century characters. Who doesn't want that? Have your French be theatrical!
