Summary

Polly Waterford is recovering from a toxic relationship. Unable to afford their flat, she has to move miles away from everyone, to a sleepy little seaside resort in Cornwall, where she lives alone above an abandoned shop. And so Polly takes out her frustrations on her favourite hobby: making bread.

But what was previously a weekend diversion suddenly becomes far more important as she pours her emotions into kneading and pounding the dough, and each loaf becomes better and better. With nuts and seeds, olives and chorizo, with local honey (courtesy of local bee keeper, Huckle), and with reserves of determination and creativity Polly never knew she had, she bakes and bakes and bakes.... And people start to hear about it. Sometimes, bread really is life...and Polly is about to reclaim hers.

Lovely, lovely, lovely.

So enjoyed it, Romance, life, humour, what more could you want. Narrator got voices just right, no weird men's voices like so many .No constant repeating stuff, or pointless rubbish to fill a book , you know the ones. Great characters.

good story but slightly dodgy accents!

loved the story, the narrator was good on the whole, but some dodgy accents! I did get wrapped up in the story so it was OK in the end.

A great, light hearted read

This is not a literary classic but it is a lovely, light hearted read which will leave you wanting more (fortunately, there is!). It will also make you want to bake! The characters were likeable, the plots interesting and it was an easy going, feel good book. I really liked the narrator. I actually listened to these in reverse order so knew to stick with it. I am not sure I would have been as convinced from the start otherwise but it gets much better once she reaches Mount Polbearne.

A little sickly and annoying.

I did listen to the end, but nearly gave up a few times, I generally like easy listening chick novels, but this was a little to perfect and sickly. It may have been the narrator who struggled the different accents. I found myself cringing on one to many occasions.

Good easy listen for summer.

A lovely story that is at times predictable, but that doesn't affect the overall book. Nice to listen to as it is easy to follow. Already got the next in the series downloaded.
