Summary
Memory man FBI agent, Amos Decker, returns in this action-packed thriller to investigate the mysterious and brutal murder of a federal judge and her bodyguard at her home in an exclusive, gated community in Florida from international bestselling author David Baldacci.
Things are changing for Decker. He’s in crisis following the suicide of a close friend and receipt of a letter concerning a personal issue which could change his life forever. Together with the prospect of working with a new partner, Frederica White, Amos knows that this case will take all of his special skills to solve.
As darkness falls, evil comes to light . . .
Judge Julia Cummins seemingly had no enemies, and there was no forced entry to her property. Close friends and neighbours in the community apparently heard nothing, and Cummins’ distraught ex-husband, Barry, and teenage son, Tyler, both have strong alibis. Decker must first find the answer to why the judge felt the need for a bodyguard, and the meaning behind the strange calling card left by the killer.
Someone has decided it’s payback time.
Long Shadows is the seventh Amos Decker thriller. Jump in here, or start the series with Memory Man.
Killer twists. Heroes to believe in. Trust Baldacci.

Good but flawed
Agent White spends to much time bemoaning that she is hard done by because she is black and a woman. This gets in the way of the story but today it seems we have to be reminded how black people are picked on because of their colour. It is a shame because, the story had legs.

Love Amos. Such a gentle believable character. Like how things go wrong as well as right. Can’t wait for the next one

Great narration
The male narrator’s voice is as rich and creamy as a chocolate mousse shared between friends in a sweet little Parisian bistro.

Does not disappoint
Baldacci manages to keep up with Amos. It is thrilling. It has some originality (which is so difficult to get with this genre). And it is very entertaining.

Best in the series!
Really enjoyed this one, made Amos more
Human, great story, good ending. Like the dual female male narration and the effects when someone is on the phone. Left wide open for future books.

Superb twisty story with excellent narration
David Baldacci does it again with another outing for Amos Decker. He has a new kick ass partner to solve a seemingly impossible crime. There's just the right amount of characterisation balanced with great storytelling. Really looking forward to the next book.

Irritating at times
I understand that the main characters had a difficult past but got tired of them both wallowing in self pity. I did listen to the end because I wanted to see how the case was solved but found the female voice over acted to an annoying degree. Good plot but didn’t need the continued references to the detectives past.
