About this listen
As the third chapter of Peter Rimmer's Brigandshaw Chronicles unfolds, 1920s London becomes a playground for the hedonistic youth. Yet, Harry Brigandshaw and Barend Oosthuizen find themselves on different paths?
Haunted by pain, Harry sets out to find his friend Barend. Together, they venture to the desolate Skeleton Coast in search of diamonds. After their fruitless search, they part ways?
Harry staying behind, while Barend retreats into the wilderness.
In the depths of a whirlpool, Harry makes an astounding discovery. His jubilation is tempered by the sight of the SS King Emperor on the distant horizon, signalling it is time to return home. Meanwhile, Barend's journey leads him to the depravities of the Johannesburg gold mines, where his festering rage finds a dark haven.
Back at Elephant Walk, Harry rejoices in the warmth of his family. However, an unwelcome letter forces him to make a difficult decision: return to England or stay in his beloved Africa. And what of the tormented Barend? Can anyone save his troubled soul, or can death be his only solace?

Another wonderfull story
The Peter Rimmer books never fail to disappoint. It is full of the Africa I knew growing up both in the farming districts and people to the deep gold mines where I worked. The story is so good one can overlook the narrators unfamiliarity with the pronounciations of words and places of the countries.
