About this listen
Kai Gracen has no intention of being anyone's pawn. A pity Fate and SoCalGov have a different opinion on the matter.
Licensed Stalkers make their living hunting down monsters and dangerous criminals, and their lives are usually brief, brutal, and thankless. Despite being elfin and cursed with a nearly immortal lifespan, Kai didn't expect to be any different. Then Ryder, the High Lord of the Southern Rise Court, arrived in San Diego, and Kai's not-so-mundane life went from mild mayhem to full-throttle chaos.
Now an official liaison between the growing Sidhe Court and the human populace, Kai is at Ryder's beck and call for anything a High Lord might need a Stalker to do. Unfortunately for Kai, this means chasing down a flimsy rumor about an ancient lost Court somewhere in the Nevada desert - a court with powerful magics that might save Ryder's - and Kai's - people from becoming a bloody memory in their Merged world's violent history.
The race for the elfin people's salvation opens unwelcome windows into Kai's murky past, and it could also slam the door on any future he might have with his own kind and Ryder.

Brilliant
An action packed sequel with lots of critters. Black dogs, shady people, threats, Dragons, explosions and Kai Gracen. This book has everything.
Some more reveals, a step towards accepting a relationship. Dragons - Sorry Kai, I like Dragons!
Love this series.
The narration - well it's Greg Tremblay and if you've not tried one of his audios then you're missing out.

Beautiful performance
I love Greg's rendition of both Kai and Ryder. As always the story he is working with is brilliant - lyrical, descriptive, emotional, funny. But it's his prickly rendition of the main characters who make it for me in this audio book. Fantastic!

Another wonderful fantasy read from Rhys....
Another fabulous instalment of the Kai Gracen series from Ms Ford, narrated perfectly as per usual by Mr Tremblay. The world-building is phenomenal, the sheer amount of nasty creatures able to bite your head off or just plain old eat you is staggering [and I include huge worms and those bloody awful black dogs...again!!], but this time around we also have treachery, murder and extremely unwelcome visits from relatives [of sorts, and those of you that have read this series know the vile monster that Kai was created by, and what his known siblings are like].
Kai is huge of heart and braveness personified, and Ryder falls in love with him even more...there is NO sex whatsoever in this story, but we can only hope that in the next story Ryder and his ainle Kai give in to their mutually acknowledged heat, and one thing's for certain...it will be explosive!! 5 stars from me.

Great description and amazing narration make this a must have.
I’ve never been keen on fantasy but Kai Gracen has changed that. Rhys Ford writes a ripping tale putting the hero through some very nasty scrapes. She excels in the detail of her descriptions while never bogging down the action, and there is plenty of that. Greg Tremblay, as always, gives a superb narration bringing the characters to life. I now know how to pronounce those sidh words. I find very few narrators easy to listen to but Greg is one of the best. He gives each character a unique voice so that they are easy to recognise. I highly recommend this Audible book.

Great book
I loved this again, as with the first book in the series. I’m a fan of Faith Hunter’s Jane Yellowrock series, and Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series as well as her other urban fantasy series. This book had a similar feel. The story is more about what escapades Kai is getting up to, but there’s a nice thread of romance with Ryder too (definitely not the focus of the book though). Thoroughly enjoyed the book and wish there were more of the series on Audible. It’s very much written to build the overall story and Kai’s character more with each book in the series, but there’s plenty of plot as a stand-alone too.
It’s set in a world where bisexuality and polyamory is accepted, and the person is more important than what labels and categories are put upon them. This isn’t a big deal in the book, just the way it is. Kai is attracted to men and women, but he doesn’t have any other relationships in this book. The romance is more chemistry and a suggestion of possibilities with Ryder (a man), rather than them starting a relationship, and there’s no sex. Not in a PG rated aimed at teenagers way, just that they’re too busy having an epic adventure for that to happen.
