About this listen

There's a dead man in Miki St. John's vintage Pontiac GTO, and he has no idea how it got there.

After Miki survives the tragic accident that killed his best friend and the other members of their band, Sinner's Gin, all he wants is to hide from the world in the refurbished warehouse he bought before their last tour. But when the man who sexually abused him as a boy is killed and his remains are dumped in Miki's car, Miki fears death isn't done with him yet.

Kane Morgan, the SFPD inspector renting space in the art co-op next door, initially suspects Miki had a hand in the man's murder, but Kane soon realizes Miki is as much a victim as the man splattered inside the GTO. As the murderer's body count rises, the attraction between Miki and Kane heats up. Neither man knows if they can make a relationship work, but despite Miki's emotional damage, Kane is determined to teach him how to love and be loved - provided, of course, Kane can catch the killer before Miki becomes the murderer's final victim.

great start the series

**AUDIO REVIEW**

There's a dead man in Miki's car and he has no idea how he got there. Zane, a SFPD inspector, is neighbours with Miki, sorta. When the body count increases, Kane is all out to keep Miki safe, while fighting the obvious attacrion to the younger man. Miki is still suffering from the accident that wiped out his band mates, and left him with a terribly injured leg. Kane knows Miki is damaged, both inside and out, but who was he to fight fate??

Narrator aside (I'll come back to that!) I loved this book! Its the first in a series, and the first I've read of this author, and I WILL look out for more. Its well written, has well developed characters, with believable hang ups and issues. The pain Miki carries, both physical and emoitonal, comes across every time, as does Kane's emotions, and how he is dealing with all that life has thrown at him. I loved the Morgan family, and how Kane and his brothers interacted, and his mum and dad?? fabulous! I did not see whodunnit coming, at all, so that kept me going right to the end.

the narrator...well, he had a thick american accent, which at times made me struggle to hear him properly. He dropped his voice alot, and even with my iPod turned right up, i didnt hear him. The Irish accent... being a UK native, I found it a little dodgy. I may well avoid other books in audio narrated by the same man. Then again, now I've got the hang of his voice, maybe I will be okay.

Loved this book

This was a great rendition of Rhys Ford's first Sinner's Gin novel. The characters came through beautifully and meshed with the sense of them I had in my head from reading the books. The crime element was well imagined and I enjoyed the interaction between the Morgan clan who were in the police. Miki has a dry wit that Tristan teally brought to life and I will definitely be listening to this again.

2.5 stars. It was almost ok.

The insta love and lack of relationship development was a a disappointment, and then the almost gratuitously grim background and experiences he’s had disappointed me even more. I’ve listened to some dark stuff so it’s not that I’m squeamish - I just didn’t get what it was all adding to the story.

Similar themes to "Dirty...." Series

Enjoy authors sense of humour especially in regard the the large Irish cop family. Even in some of the difficult emotional moments the wit comes out and I found myself chuckling as I listened one iPhone. Got funny looks from passers by!! Lol I'm Really enjoying these gay love stories. Is it because I'm 65?!

Sinner's Gin: A Romantic and Enchanting Love story

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would definitely do recommend this to a friend (have already done so). I believe that the book is beautiful as it has the right amount of sex and romance in it. The 2 man slowly built up their relationship with great care especially from Kane's part which leads into passionate sex scenes and the amazing plot being slowly revealed! It kept me hooked up every second!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sinner's Gin?

When Kane made Miki to open up and talk to him about his past. Then he started crying in Kane's lab ;~~~~~~;

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I died at the bit where Miki said to Kane "Please take off your clothes, cause... U know no one has done this before and for me it means that you will be staying" and then Kane takes off his clothes and he is like "Take a good look Miki love cause I am staying".... *intense screaming*

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Miki Love~

Any additional comments?

The narrator was awesome I love the Irish accent :Q_____ off to the next book~

Challenging story, fast narration

Sinners Gin was a really challenging story, especially with the dark subject matter being of Miki being a victim of sexual abuse as a child. There were a lot of things about the way this was handled that made me distinctly uncomfortable though. The story as a whole was dark, gritty and suspenseful. Despite my reservations with the subject matter, it was well on the way to being a five star book, but then we got to the first sex scene and two stars were blown away. Rhys Ford is a good writer but MY GOD, the sex scenes were interminable. Therefore, the story suffered badly from gratuitous sex. The scenes were over descriptive, not necessarily even erotic and went on far too long. There was so much head hopping when they made love that I had no idea who was doing what to whom. If i'd have been reading this book, not listening, I'd have done a lot of skimming on the sex scenes.

The audio narrator had a good mix of accents, but my one issue with him was that he spoke too fast. It was hard to keep up with the narrative sometimes.

Also, just a final observation. Kane Morgan and his brothers were from an Irish family. His parents moved to the US from Ireland, and Kane and his brothers were all US born. So.... why did they have Irish accents?

Anyway, this is a good listen... the cliffhanger was intriguing so I will continue with this series.

Just Fabulous

I fell I love with this story, my first by Rhys Ford, but not my last. The narration by Tristan James is superb, couldn't be bettered. On to Whisky & Wry now.

better than the ebook

I read this 2 years ago as ebook and got very obsessed with the author's preference to replace names with nouns as 'the cop', 'the singer' or 'the redhead'.
As audio I did not notice it as much. But I was not as enthousiastic as I hoped.
