About this listen
A rugged and ruined naval officer comes to claim his bride in an unforgettable tale of love, revenge, and redemption from the nationally bestselling author of Marry in Scandal.
Lady Rose Rutherford - rebel, heiress, and exasperated target of the town's hungry bachelors - has a plan to gain the freedom she so desperately desires: She will enter into a marriage of convenience with the biggest prize on the London marriage mart.
There's just one problem: the fierce-looking man who crashes her wedding to the Duke of Everingham - Thomas Beresford, the young naval officer she fell in love with and secretly married when she was still a schoolgirl. Thought to have died four years ago he's returned, a cold, hard stranger with one driving purpose - revenge.
Embittered by betrayal and hungry for vengeance, Thomas will stop at nothing to reclaim his rightful place, even if that means using Rose - and her fortune - to do it. But Rose never did follow the rules, and as she takes matters into her own unpredictable hands, Thomas finds himself in an unexpected and infuriating predicament: He's falling in love with his wife....
Contains mature themes.

Another beauty from Anne Gracie
Once again Anne Gracie has written an entertaining well crafted story. It’s brought to life by Alison Larkin’s superb reading.

Good story. Inheritance flaw.
Once an heir inherited, in the circumstance that the previous heir was believed dead - proven to the Committee of Privileges’ satisfaction, it was irrevocable: if the first heir then turned up he’d possibly be given another title (this did happen in the case of challenging problems of this type). So Thomas would not have been granted the Earldom that had been Uncle Walter’s - it would have remained with cousin Cornelius and the situation referred to the Committee of Privileges to seek a solution. That aside, a good yarn and enjoyable listen.

A lovely Gracie romance, with twists.
A great story, with a dramatic start and gradual revealing of sub plots with lesser characters, lifting it beyond the ordinary love story. A delightful entertainment with twists and turns all turning out happily in the end.
I have to admit the reader irritated me, as her tone of petty, pretty for the heroine was too girly for a character with cheek, and grit!

Terrible
I have to say this book is awful, the Narrater is atrocious and ruined the book for me, I had listened to other books by the same writer and had enjoyed them, but I will not read any other book, if said narrator is reading it.
