Plodding, simplistic... and not about Micro Habits

The bulk of this relatively short book is taken up with a list of 21 'Micro Habits' that we should all be incorporating into our lives. Apparently. However, most of them are common sense ideas, explained in an incredibly patronising and overly-simplistic way - so much so that it reminded me of one of those overly smug '21 Ways To A New You!" articles you used to get in particularly condescending women's magazines. Worse still, very few of the author's suggestions are genuine micro habits - because they aren't 'small changes' at all, but actually require a lot of time and effort to implement (which is the antithesis of micro habit psychology). When the author suggested the 'micro habit' of generating extra income by starting a blog, YouTube channel or freelance career, I laughed out loud - having been a successful freelancer for 20 years-plus, let me warn any would-be adherents that while it is indeed immensely satisfying to diversify one's career in this way, it's also EXTREMELY hard work and requires hours and hours of dedication, focus and effort. There's nothing 'micro' about it. The most useful ideas I found in this book actually came in passing quotes from other authors, most notably James Clear. If you genuinely want to learn about micro habits and the psychology behind how they work, I would advise reading/listening to his work, instead - this one is a complete waste of time.
