About this listen
Can the way you view your body change, when all you see are scars?
Nathan Bridges is an exhibitionist who loves his life as a Dom. Then one fateful day, that all changed and Nathan has spent the last 10 years hiding from what happened.
That is until Lenny shows him what true bravery is.
The feelings he has for Lenny give him back what has been missing from his life and allows Nathan to truly embrace the present and let go of the past to see that beauty is more than just a body.
But life is never that simple, as forces beyond their control work against them.
This is the second part of the Mine, Body, and Soul trilogy in The Playroom series. It is an MM age gap gay romance with aspects of BDSM, and a sexual awakening that has the power to free both men from the chains of their past and drive the true Dom inside Nathan to reappear.
This is the second book in the trilogy and the author advises that these books should be read in order to better understand the storyline. This book ends on a cliffhanger with the HEA coming in the third and final book.
Warning: This book contains some violence and touches briefly on past traumas and childhood issues.

By far my favorite!
I was so afraid of this story, I thought Nathan and Lenny would pursue a 24/7 D/s relationship, I'm glad this was not the case. Lenny is still very submissive with a playful/naughty side, but they do not exchange power all the time. Lenny does not call him sir when they are discussing serious matter that does not involve their relationship or in front of non LS people.
I listen all 3 books already and this one is by far my favorite. We get to know more about our MCs pasts and how their life is as a couple. The last chapter was so amazing! I thought my heart would stopped, love it! It's a big cliffy, be warned.
I'll say the same thing about Matt Haynes I said the last book: Matt Haynes did an amazing narration. He is a voice actor, he doesn't just read the book but also put emotions behind every scene, every speech. His pace was spot on, the pauses between sentences was also good. And I could differentiate all characters.

OH LENNY !!
When 2 broken souls find solace in each other , it brings me so much joy.
So why was it so difficult for Lenny to submit to Nathan's care and allow himself to be loved? Oh boy there were so many explosive moments in this story l had to laugh, when a fiercely independent boy defied his Dom for many reasons it was punishment time. However the love these two characters had for each other ran very deep, and their personal demons found relief in each other.
I enjoyed the time in the club with all of the other members, but look out for that New Years Eve party. That finale was too stressful.
I need book 3 ...
The narrating was enjoyable too.

Certainly riveting..
As Lenny and Nathan continue sometimes remembering a past can play havoc between them ,
Nathan has a haunting past , a past that isn't easy to forget ..my heart goes out to him ...
Lenny is lovely as ever being a great support.
The storyline is good and it flows and I listen with a passion ...
Wonderful words by JP Sayle with awesome narration by Matt Haynes.
Left with a cliff hanger needing to find out what happens in book three..

as good as the ebook
The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. I can't listen to an audiobook without knowing the book, that's not possible for me.
The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, I’m over the half, but I listen enough to give a review.
PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!
To my ratings:
5* - very very good
it's like an A+
4* - very good and will be often re-listening
it's like an A
3* - it's more then a one-time-listening.
it's like a B

Wow.
It took me a little while to really get into this story. To be fair, I came in cold, not realizing this was part 2 in a trilogy.. That being said, I DID get into it! The power play and dynamics between these two is constantly growing, evolving, and each comes to their own personal lightbulb moment about themselves, and each other - but of course THAT'S when outside forces get involved, leading to the cliffhanger on which this book ends. I truly enjoyed the characters JP Sayle brought to life, the club, the storyline - I liked it all. Looking forward to the conclusion in the last book.
the Audio: - Matt Haynes is a new to me narrator. Though the flow and pacing seemed a tad stilted or inconsistent at times, the accent, character voicing & emotion were done quite well. The narration added to the enjoyment of the book, and gave it that extra "something", making this an even more enjoyable reading/listening experience.

Left me wanting more
I listened to the first book in this trilogy and enjoyed it. I specifically liked that one of the heroes has a major medical illness but that it, for the most part, doesn’t stop him from moving on with life. He has a job and his adoptive mother Nellie. He has a few friends and he exercises to take care of himself. He also faces what life has thrown at him with as much dignity as his illness allows. After all the books I’ve read with healthy, muscular, gorgeous men, frankly, it’s nice to have someone more real. Both types of heroes have their place, to be sure. It’s just that Lenny is sympathetic, and I rooted for him the entire book. Felt his embarrassment. Honored his pain. Cheered for his relationship with Nathan to succeed.
I also fell a little bit in love with Nathan. He stepped up to the plate and accepted Lenny for who he was. He even became a little high-handed, but, frankly, Lenny needed that in his life. He’d have remained forever stuck if not for Nathan’s encouragement to reach for his dreams. Okay, so this book picks up where the other leaves off. I suppose it could be read without the having read book one, but I highly recommend reading them in sequence.
Lenny is closer, in this book, to moving past his illness. He’s facing a Herculean task he’ll have to endure, but there might be a light at the end of the tunnel. To be clear, this book offers no easy answers that’ll be wrapped up quickly. It’s a process and a slow one. Meanwhile, Nathan is pursuing Lenny. Oh, he’s happy to take on the role of caregiver when needed, but he also wants to be Lenny’s Dom. Again, this works. And shows that people with chronic illnesses can enjoy healthy BDSM relationships. I’ve seen this myself in various different forms, and I’m always happy to see friends finding someone who accepts them for who they are.
So, all that being said, this was a binge-worthy book and I plowed through it in less than a day. I was pulled into the story, especially the scene in the club where both men were on full display – scars and all. I know how hard it is to be undressed in front of strangers, but there is also a sense of accomplishment when you do manage to do it. Then the book ends on a cliffhanger. Man, my heart was squeezed with worry. But I know it’ll all work out in the end and I can’t wait for book 3.
Matt Haynes again did a great job of narrating this book. He has distinctive voices for each character and has a good rhythm for each. He provides a solid performance and I wouldn’t hesitate to listen to him again in the future. So I’m happily waiting for the final instalment of this great trilogy.

Part Two
Mine, Body, and Soul is a multipart series with each part ending in a cliffhanger. Read the first part first before starting Part 2. Part 2 picks up immediately from where Part 1 ended. This book has just as much drama and action as Part 1. There are a lot of sweet and sexy moments between Nathan and Lenny that are wonderful. I became invested in their relationship and was rooting for them through the highs and lows.

Cliffhanger
This began with great promise, but it became very repetitive. Lenny continued to cry a lot and there was a lot of back and forth between petulance and punishment (which was so reminiscent of a toddler/parent relationship it was kind of off-putting). Then to end on a cliffhanger? I won't be continuing with the series.
The narration was as jerky as the first of the series but the accents were far more jumbled as the narrator wasn't capable of sustaining a single specific accent (it was just a jumble of "UK" type accents) The inflections were also somewhat distracting as it often seemed the wrong thing in the sentence was emphasized.
