About this listen

First, there was a trunk. Inside the trunk was an egg, and inside the egg was…well, it certainly was not a chicken.

Miss Mildred Percy, former wallflower and current adventurer, is now in charge of a dragon. Along with Mr. Wiggan and Mrs. Babbinton—our stalwart companions from the first volume of Miss Percy’s adventures—she embarks on a journey across Wales, in search of the mysterious Nyth y Ddraig, or Nest of Dragons.

But traveling with a young dragon in an unfamiliar land proves more difficult than anticipated. Between angry mobs, midnight rescues, and recalcitrant sheep, they battle (figuratively) their way across the countryside, defend themselves against enemies old and new, and discover something remarkable hidden in the mountains of Wales.

Revelations galore!

Great second book. Mildred has developed into a more confident version of herself and there could be romance on the horizon. Fitz her dragon is growing and starting to learn to fly! The journey through Wales is fraught with setbacks and of course issues with others wanting a dragon. Good mystery and read superbly by Zara Ramm.

An absolute unicorn of a series

I apologise to the author for saying that listening to the first book made me repeatedly imagine that she had just completed a writing course for aspiring authors. At first the prose felt a bit over engineered. But the story and the characters were irresistible. And by the time I started on book two, I had moved from being an amateur critic of the authors writing style, to being an avid fan of this author. Brilliant characters, brilliant storytelling. Quenby is now on my list of favourite authors and I am gutted to have finished all available books in this series. Absolutely invested in Miss Percy and the gang

Intense & thrilling regency romance

I was so invested in this book, I was actually neglecting my other duties to have a proper listen. This sequel is written as expertly as the first of the series, and yet the stakes are higher.
There's a great balance between "I have to know what happens next" and "ok, everything seems to be alright, I can go to sleep".
The budding romance is growing, we get hints of more affectionate relationships and another LGBT+ couple.
And the dragons!
The aside notes are snarky and wonderful, and more than once my reaction was noticeable enough that I was asked what's so funny.
I truly hope that the hints of a third book in the series will become a reality soon, And in the meantime - I need to find more books narrated by Zara Ramm, as she was brilliant in her narration.

Binge worthy

I was amazed to see that the author was American, her use of language as spoken in Britain was faultless. The narrator, Zara Ram is just a star, perfect for these books as she is with the Chronicles of St Mary’s. I was pulled into the story immediately and was was disappointed when I’d finished both books and the third wasn’t available on Audible, I’ve bought the kindle but miss Zara’s rendering of Mildred. Altogether a well written, beautifully presented listen.
