Summary

‘A sparklingly delicious confection to satisfy the mystery reader’s appetite’ Helena Dixon, bestselling author of the Miss Underhay Mysteries

The first book in a NEW cozy mystery series!

Still spinning from the hustle and bustle of city life, Jodie ‘Nosey’ Parker is glad to be back in the Cornish village she calls home. Having quit the Met Police in search of something less dangerous, the change of pace means she can finally start her dream catering company and raise her daughter, Daisy, somewhere safer.

But there’s nothing quite like having your first job back at home be catering an ex-boyfriend’s wedding to remind you of just how small your village is. And when the bride vanishes, Jodie is drawn into the investigation, realising that life in the countryside might not be as quaint as she remembers.

With a missing bride on their hands, murder and mayhem lurks around every corner…

But surely saving the day will be a piece of cake for this not-so-amateur sleuth?

A fun story!

Loved the characters but would have preferred it to have been a bit longer, gone into a little more of the backstories

Really Enjoyable

An entertaining and gently amusing murder mystery set in Cornwall. I loved all the Cornish elements as a frequent visitor to Cornwall. A much better listen than two books I've recently listened to by 'celebrity' authors! A great performance too.

Gentle crime drama with great characters - loved it!!

I loved the characters and even the cheesy relationship with the DCI was great. A gentle afternoon’s listening whilst raking the leaves!

Entertaining if you don’t mind the plot holes

Entertaining story with a good pace and amusing dialogues, but plot wise and character wise there’s a whole lot of inconsistencies. I won’t go into details (no spoilers) but people do a lot of illogical and stupid things. If you don’t mind those, it is quite fun!

Cosy Crime, Cornwall Style

If you like cosy crime, there's not much to dislike about this audiobook.

The M.C. is a bit annoying but then she is a 'nosey parker' and I never met a nosey parker that wasn't annoying.

The plot is jolly, there's a nice tension between the characters and it's a great easy listen.

The narrator is perfect for the story.

Love love love

Yes it's predictable.
Now we've got that out the way, let's talk about other reasons why I loved it.

I really want to be friends with Jodie. She's funny and nosy and just an absolute delight! I keep finding myself giggling and vibing to her humour.

The story is not too heavy - "a cozy mystery", an easy listen, and so perfect for my drive to and back from work. Work is stressful enough and the last thing I need is an intense thriller!

The romance subplot is funny and endearing too. Cannot wait to dive into Book 2!
