Full of twists and turns
I really enjoyed this book & had me enthralled from the first paragraph. Many books do not. The way the story is told is really clever which means you don’t see the twists coming. Excellent narration which draws you into the story. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Wow what a book!
I like to read books set in my hometown of Leeds, though I didn't know this one was before I started reading. It's set in the late 70s in the time of the Ripper.
There's quite a dark prologue and then we get into a gentler story of an unworldly young man setting off to university and at the same time finding out he's adopted. We follow his university life and his search to find his birth mother and I couldn't help rooting for him.
The story is told by an unknown narrator and as the story goes along you just get the feeling that something isn't right. Then there's the shocking ending!
Wow what a book. I will certainly be reading more by this author

Gripping & very original
I was gripped from the start & listened to this at every opportunity. The plot was very original. It's not a jolly tale that's for sure but a great story excellently written. Also enjoyed the narrator too. Would highly recommend!

Bit disappointed
I gave this book three goes at listening to it, for me I just could see where it was going and it didn’t appear to be a murder book / phyco type book. On the 4th go I let it run to the very end, it was only in the last half hour that you got the full picture, it dragged on too long.

Great story, gripping till the end
Excellent story, sad but believable. The narration was excellent too. I was totally immersed in this book from start to finish. Will be looking for more from this author.

Intriguing Throughout
I though the narrator did an excellent job, drawing you right in with the characters, telling the story as someone in the book but you don't find out who until the end. It takes you right back to the seventies with detailed description of the era and the characters. The story seemed a little slow but at the end you can see how it all added up. There were so many twists at the end but the book doesn't leave you hanging. I really enjoyed this story and will definitely read more from this author and narrator.

You could see the twists coming but that didn't hinder the enjoyment. Imaginative and original plot and it worked.
