Summary

As Cara approached the exit of Harpley Historical Village, she came upon a bright object in the grass by the side of the cobbled street. It looks like a radio, but instead of producing music, the object transports Cara Gillespie and her mother back over a century to the time of bushrangers, gold-miners, convicts and rough justice. They meet Steven, an apprentice blacksmith, and come to rely on him - and in Cara's case, these emotions soon become deeper. Now she's finally met a boy she really likes, what will happen if they manage to find that device in the long grass? As the frantic search goes on, Jethro Summerwood, a time-travelling adventurer from the 23rd century, is looking for the same thing. Jethro has a prior claim to it - and he knows how to make the device work. Will Mum and Cara finally return to the world they know, or will they be marooned in the 19C?
