Summary
What they don't see - or choose to ignore - is the brutal underbelly of the Nazi movement which considers Munich its spiritual home.
When a high-born English girl is murdered, Detective Sebastian Wolff is ordered to solve the crime. Wolff is already walking a tight line between doing his job and falling foul of the political party he abhors. Now Hitler is taking a personal interest in the case.
Followed by the secret police and threatened by his own son, a fervent member of the Hitler Youth, the stakes have never been higher. And when Wolff begins to suspect that the killer might be linked to the highest reaches of the Nazi hierarchy, he fears his task is simply impossible - and that he might become the next victim.

Fantastic start to what I hope will become a series.
I enjoyed this author’s Tom Wilde series and looked forward to this audiobook, the author and narrator did not disappoint. I hope this is the first book in the series as I enjoyed the characters and look forward to their further development. I also want the two crooked cops to get their comeuppance.

Worth waiting for.
I expected it to be good from Rory Clements. It was easy to listen to due to the excellent narration and now I want to read more about Wolf and Winter - a strange partnership that has plenty of room to develop. I liked the insights we’re given to Germany pre- war and, if anything, more would be even better but not at the expense of weighing down the story. I shall research more myself! As I ‘binge listened’ to this book and it never lost my interest, I can definitely recommend this as a good read/ listen.

Clements' new hero!
Loved this. And perhaps most of all because, having read all the John Shakespeares and Tom Wildes, I am now eager for more of the adventures of Seb Wolf. A whole new series to come, I hope.
This first outing for Wolf was a great detective thriller and kept me hooked throughout. Such vivid description of Munich before the Second World War and the Nazi madness that overwhelmed them.

Superb in every way.
I absolutely loved every minute of this story and cant wait for the next book with our new hero character Sebastian Wolf. The narration was particularly strong allowing the reader to be back in pre war Germany.
Five stars is not enough. Brilliant.

The telling of the story actually put you there
Enjoyed the book thoroughly from start to finish. A throwback to how times were immediately pre WW2

This should be a film
This should be a film an area of history that I’m interested in. An insight to pre war Natzi Germany which I’ve never even considered before. Brilliant performance and amazing story line I’m usually good at detective stories and figure out who it is quite early. Not this time. Brilliant

Great listen.
I liked the believability of the storyline, it is that nice blend of fiction with factual information. The Characters are strong and engaging and the pace of the narrative kept your interest from chapter to chapter. One of Rory’s best.
