Summary

As seen on BBC 2's hit TV show This Farming Life.

Emma Gray was just 23 when she moved to an isolated farm in Northumberland, becoming Britain's youngest solo shepherdess. In the seasons that followed, Emma fell in love with its rolling fields, sycamore trees and sturdy farmhouse, where she tended her sheep and trained her dogs - and even found romance along the way.

But when Emma finds herself suddenly alone again, heartbroken, mourning the loss of loved ones and recovering from a serious accident, she can't help but wonder if her isolated existence is still such a sensible idea. Even if she could recover, how could she make a proper living on Fallowlees Farm?

In her heart-warming new book, Emma reveals how she picks herself up from these setbacks to become one of the country's most successful trainers of Border Collies and how she - much to her surprise - finds true love and lasting happiness where she least expects it.

Written with warmth and humour, My Farming Life is testament to the healing power of nature and a joy for anyone who's ever dreamed of living closer to it.

Love this book

I'm a big fan of Emma's, so finding this book was a real treat. Brilliantly told, and easy to relate to as a fellow sheperdess. I hope you continue to write more great books!

Genuine pros and cons of being a farmer

I liked the romance and hardship of a female taking on a farm on her own initially and the ups and downs of her life

A Wonderful Story.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this story, well read and very true to life. In some ways it has been an echo of my own life, some of it I can relate to, some of it wishful thinking. I have learnt a lot of the ups and downs of life in general, expectations along with disappointments and how to overcome the “downs” and pick yourself up to go on to achieve better things.

A wonderful insight into farming life

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Emma’s story and her love and dedication to farming and the farm animals - and especially her Border Collies and her skill in training them. I don’t think many young women would take on such challenges alone and thrive on them but she does. And she succeeds in areas that are very much a man’s world. I look forward to reading her next book one day about her new farm and life on the island of Bute.

THANK YOU EMMA

I thoroughly enjoyed and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good read .
EMMA uses words to paint the scene and she excels at it in both books.
I hoe Emma writes a third book about her new farm on a Scottish island.
