Summary
Nominated for the Booker Prize 2019.
Shortlisted for the 2019 Women’s Prize for Fiction.
Korede is bitter. How could she not be? Her sister, Ayoola, is many things: the favourite child, the beautiful one, possibly sociopathic. And now Ayoola's third boyfriend in a row is dead.
Korede's practicality is the sisters' saving grace. She knows the best solutions for cleaning blood, the trunk of her car is big enough for a body and she keeps Ayoola from posting pictures of her dinner to Instagram when she should be mourning her 'missing' boyfriend. Not that she gets any credit.
A kind, handsome doctor at the hospital where Korede works is the bright spot in her life. She dreams of the day when he will realise they're perfect for each other. But one day Ayoola shows up to the hospital uninvited and he takes notice. When he asks Korede for Ayoola's phone number, she must reckon with what her sister has become and what she will do about it. Sharp as nails and full of deadpan wit, Oyinkan Braithwaite has written a deliciously deadly debut that's as fun as it is frightening.

Very good read
I love a unique story that breaks the norm and this book and its Lagos setting is definitely that. Beautiful narration. The emotions of the main character all come through in this story..loneliness, jealousy , loyalty, passion and you can feel her sheer exhaustion of dealing with it all.

So much potential
I felt a little let down by the ending. I though the idea was excellent and the narration is brilliant. A lovely book. But ended abruptly

Depth of character
I was impressed with the depth of character the author was able to put into Korede. We learn small details here and there. Actions that have consequences. Little tidbits from the past. The murders are just the background for an excellent deep dive into Korede's daily reality.

Loved it!
Compelling story, excellent narration and a worthwhile listen!
I would definitely recommend. The narration brings the story to life in a way that wouldn't have been possible with just reading the book.

Amazing
The end also didn't disappoint. Really sudden but very apt for the entire saga. Highly recommended

Fantastic reading of the novel
I so enjoyed listening to this novel and finished it a day. It was brought to life by the reader, Weruche Opia, who manages to capture a whole range of Nigerian voices magnificently.

Disappointed by Ending
I really enjoyed this book until the very weak ending. The story was compelling and the narration was great but jeez oh. Disappointed.

Devoured in a day!
I loved this book!
Dark and funny and addictive. I felt empathy for Korede despite disagreeing with her decisions or actions.
The narrator did a great job of bringing the story to life. Although the accent for the male characters let it down just a little.
