Story
The heroine of Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music tells her life story from the music halls of London to Broadway stardom. Over the years Julie Andrews has been much interviewed in the press and on television, but she has never before revealed the true story of her childhood and upbringing. In Home she vividly re-creates the years before the movies. An idyllic early childhood in Surrey was cut short when her parents divorced and her mother remarried. The family moved to London, and there are vivid scenes of life during the Blitz.

As far back as he can remember James Corden has only ever wanted to be in one place: in front of you, doing something to make you laugh, cry, shout, or giggle uncontrollably. At the age of 4, he grandstanded throughout his baby sister’s christening, standing on a chair in front of the whole congregation, pulling faces and cracking everyone up. Despite himself, the vicar was impressed. And from then on he couldn’t get enough of the spotlight, even when it always seemed to avoid him. Throughout his teens, he and his Dad trudged up and down towards London....

Summary
A delightfully comic and touchingly romantic interlude in which Colin Clark describes for the first time what happened between Marilyn Monroe and himself during the missing week in The Prince, the Showgirl and Me.
In 1956, fresh from Eton and Oxford, the 23-year-old Colin Clark (son of ‘Lord Clark of Civilisation’, brother of maverick Tory MP and diarist Alan) worked as a humble ‘gofer’ on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl, the film that disastrously united Laurence Olivier with Marilyn Monroe.
Forty years on, his diary account was chosen as book of the year by Jilly Cooper, Joan Collins and others. But one week was missing. This is the story of that week, a delicious idyll in which he escorted a Monroe desperate to escape from the pressures of stardom. Her new husband Arthur Miller was away, and the coast was clear for Colin to introduce her to the pleasures of British life. How he ended up sharing her bed is a tale too rich to summarise!

Short but definitely worth a listen.
I was reluctant to watch the film when it was released, fearing it would be a sensationalist "kiss and tell". When I finally saw the film I was pleasantly suprised. The film turns out to be a pretty accurate portayal of the book. If you want sensational or sordid then avoid this book. If you want a brief, and sympathetic, glimpse into a very short period of Marylin Monroe's life then this is it! Colin Clark's recollection of Marylin is captivating and Eddie Redmayne's narration is superb.

Beautiful book
I really enjoyed this story, although it’s short it really draws you in and I couldn’t stop listening to it. Eddie Redmayne’s performance was wonderful and I will be listening again. It was really nice insight into a few days with Marylin and any Marylin fan should listen
