About this listen
Nakedman Race Harleson runs for US president - and runs interference between scoffing, scared humanity and an intervening alien race of contractor/mercenaries who have clamped down on the plutocratic pharaohs of the modern age via a lethal, half-crazy “emissary”: Dark Matter, the half-unhinged young physics prodigy who can manipulate matter and energy and has been doing so to lethal effect in order to get the resentful wealthy in line. As Race represents the “surrender now” platform, he’s a walking target for the much larger “stand your planet’s ground” crowd and so, must appear naked in public speeches to avoid assassination. But at least he gets the partial privacy afforded by a podium.
Race’s lady Ellen Fordyce, meanwhile, is contacted by someone who tells her that the aliens’ (also alien) sponsors are curbing Earth’s elite - not for the good of the world, but to make it more appealing for sale to other acquisitive capitalist space entities. Tracking down the lead, she ends up guiding Race to a fateful encounter with the hideous Visseri, an apparently inside-out species and the biggest competitors of the space beings who are working to get humanity to fall in line with their controlling edicts.
But this new perspective just complicates matters, of course, leaving Race stuck between his professed platform of acceptance and submission and what he and Ellen have just been shown. In the thrilling conclusion of Volume One of Nakedman: Uncomfortable Tales of Epic Adventure, Race and Ellen both end up having to risk everything for a mere outside chance to save the world...and not just from alien invaders.
