Summary
Now available for the first time in audiobook format, Necroscope III: The Source is the third installment in the Necroscope series by horror master Brian Lumley. This story traces the battle between Harry Keogh and the horrifying Vamphyri on their home ground, an alien landscape of looming towers, impossible cliffs, and ravenous vampire-beasts.
Russia's Ural Mountains hide a deadly secret: a supernatural portal to the country of the vampires. Soviet scientists and ESP-powered spies, in a secret military base, study the portal - and the powerfully evil creatures that emerge from it, intent on ravaging mankind.
When Jazz Simmons, a British agent sent to infiltrate the base, is captured by the KGB espionage squad and forced through the portal, his last message tells Harry Keogh, the Necroscope, that the vampires are preparing for a mass invasion.
Harry has only one option - to strike first. He must carry the human-vampire war to the vampire's own lands. But his strongest psychic power will be useless there. What good is the power to summon the dead in a country where nothing ever dies, where every man, woman, and child becomes half-dead servants of the Vamphyri?

Superb - now let's get the whole series!
The Necroscope series is fact becoming one of my favourite audiobook experiences. Not only is it my favourite of Lumley's various series but it's narrated beautifully. Whenever I imagine any of the characters it's James Langton's performance I hear.
These are absolutely superb and I recommend them to fans of lovecraftian horror and anyone who wants an original and rich take on the vampire mythos rooted in a good understanding. Please Macmillan and Audible - get Langton back in the studio asap and get this whole series out and available. A Necroscope revival is long overdue.

Masterfully done
Having reread these books numerous times over the years, I was a bit reluctant to buy the audiobook, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The accents, tone, speed and tension building were all excellently done.
I've bought the first 3 audiobooks in this series and I hope to God he goes on to narrate the vampire worlds and the lost years.
A true professional and a great tribute to the greatest horror writer of all time.

Another Great Audiobook in The Necroscope Series
I have really enjoyed Necroscope III: The Source by Brian Lumley. In the audiobook he takes us deeper into the Vamphyri story, giving us the background to the vampires.
As with the first two audiobooks in the Necroscope series, the characters are bought to life by James Langton. His narration is brilliant.
The combination of a clever storyline and excellent narration meant I was unable to stop listening to the audiobook.
Having finished it I can’t wait to listen to the next one.

excellent pacing as usual
I wasn't completely sure if I was behind the direction this book went at first but upon multiple readings but it's grown on me.
the weakest of the first three books but not bad also.
