About this listen
An average child born with genius siblings, will be cast from the inner circle, tagged as black and left for the wolves.
The Advanced Learning Online World (ALOW), have been running strongly for over a decade. Curing genetic and acquired diseases, restoring anatomy and organs. All the while, the patient mentally plays within the fantasy world under a medically induced coma.
James C. Corwell assumes his treatment as the left side of his body undergoes restoration due to a military accident. Just in time for Campaign! Where dungeon, raid, invasion, and scenario all merge into three months of conquest, mayhem, and debauchery.
Never an avid gamer, this loner must navigate his way through a world set upon role-play and politics. Can he do what has eluded him since birth, and make something of himself? To further add insult to injury, his brother purchases the Nobleman Package as a practical joke.
James, aka Hedge Lord Jaeger Persik, turns to the past 28 years of life experience, and unfamiliar creatures for help.
Will this black sheep finally become part of a flock, with his uncommon way of thinking and his ability to adapt? Or will frustration and ignorance reign?
Warning: This book contains scenes of graphic adult situations, language, and non-traditional relationship structures.

Book Review: Noble Farmer
I'd like to take a moment to set the scene - the MC of the book is thrown into the world after a bit of bad luck; he takes to the life in the world with relish setting his sights on setting up a farm and making a living that way... but other events conspire to stop that. The story isn't just from the "in-game" point of view - lots of discussion about what is happening in the real world too (I like this, it gives context to some of these books and feels, oddly, more real because of it).
The story is really really good, the scene setting feels very good and get you, as the reader, and the MC involved in the world. I like that he really doens't know anything when he arrives and the NPCs don't treat him like a high-and-mighty just because he's a player. The world is a semi-realistic fantasy world - with the player being fully immersed in full body VR type interface (for medical reasons). I liked the story arc - and I honestly can't wait for book two to come out... the MC also didn't feel too OP throughout the story.
The only thing I found a bit odd (but the context was important) was the talk about sex (and the boobs). Now I don't mind either of those things ... but the context just felt a bit odd when it first came up; also a bit too "in your face" ... but that wasn't to say that it was badly done. It just took the book from a good yarn to being a more mature good yarn. Definitely don't let this put you off.
Voice acting from TJ Clark was brilliant - I hate to say it but I didn't notice anything about the voice acting ... but that's a good thing in my eyes (er, ears) as it means that it was well done and brought be into the story well.
As I said above, I can't wait for the next book and I'd definitely recommend this for a listen or read through but I think it's aimed at the late teen / adult market.
Summary:
Story: 4/5
LitRPG Mechanics: 4/5
Narration: 4/5

Enjoyable
Even though there was precious little farming in this part, I enjoyed listening to the 'Noble Farmer' and cannot wait for the next book in the series.
The good:
Worldbuilding is a piece of solid craftsmanship, and even though the book contains a lot of adult interactions, all of them are there for a purpose.
The author found a good balance between storytelling and stats.
The bad:
There were a few minor mistakes (i.e. the protagonist is arrested by the CIA while the case would be outside of their competence).

A Good Start
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair review.
It's a good start to a series and an interesting take on VR, the main character is likeable and fleshed out and the story is interesting but I found it to have a few pacing issues throughout, a lot seems to happen in a short space of time so I'm hoping the next book takes it a little slower. The only other complaint I really have is that I didn't enjoy a lot of the 'adult' interactions as they came off as crass for crasses sake, but they didn't put me off the book and I still had a good time.
The narration was very spot on, TJ Clark does a great job an I never really got bored listening.
All in all a solid start, looking forward to hearing what's next.

Fast and farming furious
I received the audiobook as a free giveaway.
I would recommend this book as an introduction into this type of novel, as it is very game-lite with minimal game mechanics.
The Narrator was excellent, he really did a great job giving each character a distinct voice, and the world an added depth.
Really enjoyed a lot of the characterisation, many of the side characters are well fleshed out and believable. Though unfortunately the main character grated on me in places. Just my personal opinion, as I have seen this type of character done before and I didn't like them then either.
The plot was very fast paced in places, sometimes too fast for my liking. I liked that some scenes were not dragged out to death as they would be in other books, but then again the author perhaps could've spent some extra time in places.
Events are sometimes passed over as narrative when they could/should be scenes, or they happen in the background.
I did find the overt comments about every woman's boobs and figure unnecessary.
All in all, I will likely get the second book in the series, as I enjoyed the overall story line and the direction it is headed.

Interesting worlds
I received a review copy of this book which is well written and narrated. The world both inside and out of the game is interesting, with hints of a much deeper story to be unveiled. The main character, as usual with the genre, appears to have an overpowered ability that he must learn to use, although there is a depth hinted at that suggests that there is something odd about it. A lot happens in the book, which does almost make it feel rushed, as several of the events felt like they could be full books in themselves but instead were resolved in a few chapters.
Overall a very interesting book and a promising start to a new series.
