Summary

Jason Burke was a man hiding from himself in a small cabin high in the American Rocky Mountains when his simple, quiet life was shattered one night by what he first assumed was an aviation mishap. But when he investigates the crash, what he finds will yank him out of his self-imposed exile and thrust him into a world he could have never imagined. He suddenly finds himself trapped on a damaged alien spacecraft and plunged into a universe of interstellar crime lords and government conspiracies, along the way meeting strange new friends… and enemies. As he struggles to find his way back home he is inexorably drawn deeper into a world where one misstep could mean his death. Or worse. He desperately wants to get back to Earth, but it may be the end for him...or is it just the beginning?

not very deep or unique

I found it enjoyable nevertheless so I would still recommend it for fans of sci-fi

Cool ideas and enjoyable

I liked the story. Was an enjoyable listen.

Maybe the rest of the series creates more depth to things. I enjoyed it all and can not fault any of it. I just wish there was a little more at times.

A great start to an excellent sci-fi story

It reminds me of Firefly and looks to be a great idea for a band of aliens banding together in their own spaceship and taking on the bad guys! I LOVE IT!!

Enjoyable, looking forward to more.

I was a little apprehensive about this series to begin with, it started off a little slower than I'd have liked for a relatively short book. However, after the first few chapters and when the rest of the characters are getting introduced it kicks up in tempo and turned out to be a fantastic story.

Nothing new, but not a bad listen

I listened to this in about 2 days straight. Mostly circumstances, inasmuch as I had time and opportunity, but also because it's quite a good yarn. The narrator helps a lot and Heitsch turns in a grade A performance. The story is a variation on the old "alien captures human soldier - soldier turns tables and has a load of adventures", but it's told well and Dalzelle should be commended for making an old story feel fresh. I'll probably read the next in the series, but I can imagine it would get old pretty quickly.

Grows On You

Slow start, audio was a little plain but you get used to it, stick with it, it gets good. I will continue onto the next audio book
