Summary
We close our eyes to the truth. Some stay closed forever....
When an antiques dealer takes a shortcut through a nature reserve in Horncastle, nobody will see Michael Levy alive again. The missing person report sparks a wave of action that lands on DI Freya Bloom’s desk at the worst possible time.
Her team is being torn apart from above, her new boss is looking a way to fire her, and the man she adores has found love elsewhere. In short, the new life she has built in Lincolnshire is coming to an end.
But as her team unravels a series of suspicious events, the missing persons case is escalated to murder. A body has been found…only it’s not Michael Levy’s.
Who does the body belong to? Where is Michael Levy? And is this the break that Freya needs to regain control of her life?
One Deadly Night is the 10th book in the addictive Wild Fens Murder Mystery series, perfect for fans of Joy Ellis, JM Dalgleish, Rachel McLean, and JD Kirk.

This is an excellent story as are the others in the series.
So glad to read of the disgrace and downfall of Standing. His presence in the recent stories has made them less enjoyable than the previous ones so I am glad he won't factor in the upcoming books which I look forward to enjoying in due course.

Fantastic series
I love this series, it’s complicated and unexpected and interesting. Freya is sometimes annoying but always commanding. Ben is often annoying but somehow appealing. The rest of the team are just like any group of workers thrown together but nonetheless enjoy their working life. I like that as it feels authentic. This book held my interest all the way through, I think the way the narrator manages to make Freya sound female (he’s male) without a squeaky fake voice is genius. The whole series is highly recommended.

Beautifully written series - love them
I love this series. The murder mystery is as good as any but more importantly the back story is excellent! The description of the setting, the characters, and all of the back story is done really well. I love the development of the characters over the whole series. Just started book 11 in the wild fen series and would highly recommend - start from number 1 and read in order.
