Mrs Packington felt alone, helpless, and utterly forlorn. But her life changed when she stumbled upon an advertisement in The Times which read: "ARE YOU HAPPY? IF NOT, CONSULT MR PARKER PYNE". Equally adept at putting together the pieces of a marriage or the fragments of a murder mystery, Mr Parker Pyne was possibly the world's most unconventional private eye, and certainly its most charming.

Story
Gipsy's Acre was a truly beautiful upland site with views out to sea, and in Michael Rogers it stirred a child-like fantasy. There, amongst the dark fir trees, he planned to build a house, find a girl, and live happily ever after. But as he left the village, a shadow of menace hung over the land, for this was the place where accidents happened. Perhaps Michael should have heeded the locals' warnings: "There's no luck for them as meddles with Gipsy's Acre."

In fact, adventure comes looking for her – and finds her immediately at Hyde Park Corner tube station. David Suchet IS Hercule Poirot
A faithful reading of the Poirot stories by the man himself - David Suchet. Very pleasant listening with humour and drama, even though I know the stories so well.
A full cast recording would be the only improvement, but David Suchet's range of character interpretations was masterful.
This I shall listen to again and again with equal enjoyment.

Classic Christie - and Suchet is perfect as always
I really enjoyed David Suchet in his role as Poirot for television. It makes him a natural choice for narrator of this classic collection of Christie's stories featuring our favourite Belgian detective. Suchet delivers well, and his performance is both dynamic and soothing, so I can either listen and enjoy or have it as background when I want a comforting sleep. I'm so pleased that he recorded these stories and love them every time I listen. Highly recommended.

Wrong Reader, Good Stories
A good collection of stories, but beware if you're a fan of Hugh Fraser and don't listen to the preview before buying. This collection is actually read by David Suchet (Poirot in the TV series) and NOT Fraser.
The stories themselves are good and varied, ideal to dip in and out of. Much less 'murder mystery' and more towards the Jewel heist type story than Christie's other books, but all are well written with satisfying endings. Recommended then, but again, listen to the preview before buying

Not great on many levels.
Would you try another book written by Agatha Christie or narrated by David Suchet?
Wasn't keen on the narrations, especially that of Hastings who was irritating . Sound quality was poor compared to other recordings.
If you’ve listened to books by Agatha Christie before, how does this one compare?
Poorly.
What aspect of David Suchet’s performance might you have changed?
Better quality, better supporting cast.
Any additional comments?
Makes me realise how far we have come. I know casual racism was an accepted thing in older novels, even in Just William and John Buchan books. But this is the first time I have been offended by an Agatha Christie one where the constant reference to " chinks, orientals and slitty eyes " was common during one of the readings.
