Summary
A standalone novel.
I'm NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance "Romance".
I'm notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I'm a player on and off the ice. I'm the one women with no inhibitions want.
Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don't know how to be any other way.
I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she's the kind of bad I deserve.
At least that's what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She's all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.
I shouldn't want her.
But I do.
I should leave her alone.
But I won't.

Couldn't stop listening and have relistened often
This is my ultimate favorite in the series. I have listened to the story often, and also to favorite parts.
From all female characters, Poppy is the one most relatable to the average listener: the least amount of quirks, hang ups and out of the box opinions (Lily comes close). There's simply no way in hell Poppy would ever make a super hero cape for her lover's genitals like Violet would have done. She is a no nonsense girl, but with a romantic side to her personality as well.
The intricate details of the history both characters have together are woven throughout the story and give a very moving insight in how their lives are intertwined.
I felt the character Lance was given multiple layers in this story. His story, while moving and sad, is reflected in his bad choices in life. Their romance is realistic, personal and relatable (on the emotions side). You hear about their doubts, their fears and their hopes. From swooning to grief; the emotions this story envokes in the reader are quite intense at times. Loved the story. Hope Lance and Poppy will get their own follow up story, because I loved them.

This was an incredibly heartfelt read. Thankfully, the audiobook narrators brought these characters to life beautifully. I especially enjoyed the male narrators' performance of Lance. He managed to pour so much emotion into his characterization.⭐️👏
Lances backstory was so heartbreaking.💔 The physical and psychological @buse he'd suffered was awful. To learn what Tash had then been putting him through as well, it was pure exploitation and @buse as well.😭😡 It was tough to hear/read.
Poppy was a balm to all of Lance's wounds without even realising. She was a genuinely kind-hearted person who seemed might fit into his found family group - if he could learn to trust anyone enough again, after Tashs constant betrayals!😡
This was a wonderful read!♥️⭐️

si different and sooo good
Loved the amazing story of Lance snd Poppy. Lance had so much baggage from his childhood and he was lucky enough to find Poppy. Solid story with its ups and downs plus the loving and lust. I love both narrators, but they are always great to listen to

Accents
Jacob morgen’s Scottish accent sounds very much like an Irish accent ( but I love the Irish accent)

Dark at the beginning but worth the time for sure!
Wow this one of the series is different. Some mature issues and is done well but the light comes in about half way and loved it!

Fantastic Story
This is such a wonderful story. A sweet girl, Poppy, helping a scarred boy, Lance, get through his awful childhood memories, that are messing with his head now that he is an adult.
The performances by the narrators were good, once you get over the truly awful accents! Lance is supposed to be Scottish, he sounds a mixture of American, Canadian and Irish!

4.5 Stars
Pucked Off had the humour that the other books in this series have had, but this is the darkest one yet. Especially considering Lance has been a bright light (if a little playerish) in previous books. So this was a bit of a curveball. It even had me tearing up at times. While Jacob Morgan didn't have the perfect Scottish accent (to me, as someone who lives in Scotland, it comes off a touch too Irish) it didn't distract me too much. Lance and Tash really were toxic, but Poppy was everything Lance needed and even the conflict wasn't unbelievable. I think this was my favourite of the series so far.
