Highly recommended. Rip roaring adventure.
This is the second book in the series, having loved the first I was eager to listen to this one. I was not disappointed.
It is a Maddock and Bonebrake book and their relationship is as solid and humerous as in other books. Again, the story revolves around certain myths we all know and it is a good background for a rip roaring adventure. Lost cities, ancient tribes, dangerous waterfalls and amazon monsters made for a good listen.

A rescue mission or quest
I really enjoyed this book. I think it might actually be my favourite one so far. There wasn't so much a history lesson in this book, instead it is more a treasure hunt, as Dane and the gang work out clues to finding a missing man and city. From a museum in London to the Amazon jungle each situation brings its own challenges and dangers. The whole team is involved in this adventure and even an old friend joins them and the banter continues. I really got a sense and feel for the jungle setting and could easily picture it. The explanation in some treasure hunting books can sometimes stretch the imagine explaining religious beliefs but I thought this one was well thought out. The bad guys reason was also more plausible, even if not everybody knew what they were hunting for. It's also set up to take the series in a different direction, so I am off to see what happens next.
When Kallen's boyfriend and his students fail to return from an expedition, a colleague brings her a package he left behind for her. Before she can even look at it he is kidnapped. The college is reluctant to help and the police can't do anytging, so she turns to the only one who can help, her ex boyfriend Dane Maddock. She quickly learn her boyfriend didn't share anything about what he was really doing with her and the picture is just as mysterious. When hired gunmen seem to be on the same trail, Dane and his friends have no choice but to head into the Amazon jungle look for not only a missing man but also a missing city, a city that has a secret that it's people will stop at nothing to keep there secret. In the jungle it's not just the animals that you have to fear, add in the men on there trail and things turn deadly. Can Dane find his ex girlfriends new boyfriend? A girlfriend he might still have feelings for.
I liked the narrator. He continues to entertain and I hope he sticks with the series.

Amazing action, story and narration.
If you could sum up Quest: A Dane Maddock Adventure in three words, what would they be?
Action
Adventure
Cool!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Quest: A Dane Maddock Adventure?
I loved this book from start to finish. It's my first Dane Maddock adventure and obviously it's not book one but you don't need to read the rest to enjoy it. It was brilliant. In fact I'm going to have to get the rest I enjoyed it so much.
If I get into memorable moments I will ruin the story, so to be deliberately vague. I liked it when they got to the place they were looking for and got the revelations around their destination.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
I loved the way they started the book which is sort of a two pronged start of ancient tim s then back to modern day. Equally the way they end on finding their destination is brilliant as is the journey to get there.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
It's more action than drama but I did like it when they were piecing the clues together and Bones proposes. Laugh out loud moment that was very, very funny. Also the scene with the explorers descendent was a nice scene. We have a great story and a brilliant selection of characters. It's a really great book.

"Ready to die?"
After her boyfriend Thomas goes missing and the police seem to ignore her request to find him, fearing for his life Kallen Maxwell persuades her old friend Dane Haddock to help.search for him. Thomas had left an envelope for her containing a photograph of an earlier controversial explorer and armed with that and with close friend and partner Bones at his side, Dane and a small group take to the last place he'd been seen, the Amazon jungle. But they were not alone in their quest: another team had a similar goal and were prepared too kill to get there first.
David Wood has written a decent adventure story, set amidst the natural dangers of uncharted jungle and the more unnatural ones of violent adversaries and historic myths dating back two thousand years. A decent, if totally far fetched and foolish, story to just sit back and let the waterfall sprayi run over you. The narration, by Jeffrey Kaffer, was excellent, adding depth and helping to develop character, so making the whole book experience more enjoyable.
My thanks to the rights holder of Quest who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy, via Free Audiobook Codes. A fun and easy adventure read for lighter moments.

An improvement on the series
The stories in this series have been gradually getting better. There was a better flow to the narrative and the adventure felt fast paced but not frenetic. Just wished there was more character depth but I may be wishing for too much from an adventure novel.
