Summary

'Have you heard the one about the four guys from south London who went to Ibiza for two weeks, were taken on a musical journey while off their heads on a new wonder drug and then returned home armed with modern dance music? If not, well, you might be in for a shock.'

The long-awaited autobiography from the first superstar DJ.

Follow Paul Oakenfold—world-renowned DJ and dance music pioneer—as he tells his incredible story of a phenomenal career at the beating heart of dance.

Paul's journey takes him from a musical baptism in 1980s New York and underground club nights in London to running a seminal dance record label and a legendary trip to Ibiza that introduced him to trance and changed the face of dance music forever.

Paul also shares how he overcame tough times, including his struggle with dyslexia and how this has shaped him as a DJ and producer.

A breathless adventure through music, Ready Steady Go is a story of dance, trance, excess and success.

Oaky Dokey

This book is a great insight to the God of EDM. His rise to the top from humble beginnings is such a good listen.

Loved it

Back to the 80s and 90s, fake I D, dropping and dancing at M.O.S. oh, they were the days, planet perfecto bullet in the gun is still played in my house to this day. The brilliance and multi layered talent of Oakey makes him more than a super star DJ, he's a legend of his craft. Totally understand why he didn't read his audio book, but Robert Elms did it justice. I absolutely loved the book and brought back memories of my clubbing days. for a fan of dance trance and everything in between, it's a must listen. 5 stars.

Legendary story

I thought I knew a fair bit of Oakenfold having been there at Cream in the late 90s, but wow what an adventure and congratulations to the man.

I have just finished the book with my son who found it positively inspiring (maybe without so many f bombs - such is life) but the positive motivational piece of following your dreams, going to the unknown, keep reinventing and disrupting makes Paul a legend and this book showcases his entrepreneurial spirit and personal journal. Also thank you for opening up on your very personal and emotional journey at the end was extremely moving and humble.

All the best and highly recommend those curious on Paul, the history of dance music or just want some pep talk on going out there and succeeding with life.

Overcomes everything

Adversity/seek the positives/commit/succeed. What a journey. Live in New York is still the best album I ever bought.

Not Bad but similar to his first book

As someone who enjoyed Paul Oakenfold's first biography a few years ago, I was excited to dive into this extended version of his story. In this book, Oakenfold delves into new areas of his life and career that were not covered in his previous work. From the early days of his DJing career to his rise to fame and success, The Wonderful World of Perfecto provides a captivating look at the life of one of the most influential DJs in the world. As a fan of Paul Oakenfold's music, I find this book to be essential in my collection. It gives me a deeper appreciation for his work and allows me to connect with his journey as an artist. I highly recommend it to any fan looking to gain a greater understanding of Paul's life and career.
