About this listen
Ex-special forces soldier Nick Stone is recuperating in Switzerland. His latest mission cost the life of one of his closest friends. And the woman he went to bed with last night has left without saying goodbye.
When she fails to reappear, Stone begins his quest to find her. Once in Africa and in the heart of a very dirty Congo war, it isn't long before the past comes knocking on the door. One bloody twist leads to another and Stone finds himself catapulted into the dark, brutal world he thought he's managed to leave behind.

BIG ACTION, FUNNY AS HELL AND GOOD STORY
what can I say? this is one of the best action books ive read in the last years...super funny and smart ...with some really good building action. Loved every second of this book...its also a powerful story that really made me think of how we (the rich west) drain countries in Africa of resources and dont care that all those people suffer over our comfort. Some Nick Stone books are a little too slow for me, with too much detail over how a certain sniper spot out is build, or how he pies during steak out, but this book has non of that...some details about the explosives and weapons, but the story really goes on...and its a MASSIVE story...thanks ANDY KEEP EM COMING :)

Another awesome Nick Stone episode
I really thank Paul Thornley for reading all these great McNabb stories. I think he does an excellent job. Absolutely love it. I’m jealous that I can’t pull of that many accents!
Thanks mate! :)

Best of the series
If you could sum up Recoil in three words, what would they be?
This is the best Nick Stone book in the series. Excellent work Mr McNab and Paul Thornley is an incredible narrator. Thanks for the journey

We're off to the Congo!
Any additional comments?
In this addition to Nick Stone's adventures, we're heading off to Dominican Republic of Congo in West Africa, but Stone will find himself in Hereford, U.K and Switzerland before the novel is out.
War torn, blood thirsty West Africa is where Stone's girlfriend has headed off without him. Just as we start to see a romantic side to our favourite ex SAS hero, that sees Nick preparing to propose to a lucky lady when she comes home, she decides not to return home from work at all.
After tracking her down deep in the swamp ridden jungles of the Congo, Nick has to try and persuade her to return back to the U.K. with him, but not before Stone is fighting for his life and many others, including orphaned African child soldiers, many of whom were forced to kill their parents as a right of initiation into the army.
Amidst the gory realities of war, Nick fights for his life, alongside trying to win fair maiden's heart. Canablism and trench/jungle warfare are just a few of the atrocities included in this epic fight against evil.
Will Nick survive to fight another day? Of course he will, but he'll be taking a detour through hell before he wakes up from this nightmare. Full of action and gore, another "must listen" in the Stone series.
